My mum text me on Monday morning saying she'd just been out picking mushroom (wild field type ones...YUMM!), and had got about a bucket full, I text back and said, "immm, real mushrooms, if I want mushrooms these days I have to buy them and they just don't taste the same do they!" (Used to collect TONS of mushrooms as kids on the farm, love them I do!).

Anyway, courier just turned up with a chillibox type thing, and inside it is packed full of freshly picked and peeled mushrooms from my mum all the way from Wairoa (Hawkes Bay) Haha, you gotta love her!! Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight!!:2thumbsup  my mum!

Easily arranged; all I'll need is your mother's home address and a briefcase full of cash.

Mothers are good I reckon. But there are reasons why we move out eventually

...and reasons why we avoid moving back for more than a couple of days at a time <_<

Do you do mothers in law? In that case I have something you can do for me in return for a ride on the mean greenie ;)

That's pretty awesome, kind of thing my Ma would do. :2thumbsup

I recently heard of a woman who sent some whitebait by courier to her son's place of work. But guess what? That's right, the courier failed to deliver on time (despite being advised of the perishable nature of the parcel and assuring same day delivery) and the parcel cleared the office building upon its eventual arrival!

Edited for spelling!

If I PM you our address, buy you some beer and pay the courier will you send me some? :blip: Maha man hates them, I love them.

Worst moment with them though, went and picked a big bucket full the day before my father and his wife came up for the day. I decided to cook them up for lunch. Peeled them and did the whole start to cook thing and bugger me all these tiny little white worms started appearing in the juices

There was no hope of disguising them, the whole white on black thing looked revolting...LOL

Lesson learned, dont keep em, eat em!

Well then, I'm afraid they'd get far inferior service, quite possibly to the extent of receiving none whatseover - the last time I checked, hitmen's activities were not covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act.

I did it the wrong way around! I was in Tuatapere, sausage capital of NZ apparently and I couriered up some venison, tomato, basil and paua gourmet sausages, along with some other varieties. Mum said they were still frozen by the time they got to Dorkland.

Sweet, I even got to eat them since mum just bunged them straight into the freezer... hmm reminds me, I better get them to courier some more up!

Arthur Daly would be aghast. "My word is my bond"... "Gentlemen's agreement", etc.

Where is the honour among theives and murderers these days?

Simply stating in the fine print that "used, non-sequencial $100 notes" would be entirely satisfactory.

haha, yeah the wild field ones kinda need peeling, normally growing in cow paddocks and stuff, so can be a bit icky, they don't take too kindly to scrubbing like the parkvale ones which don't need peeling. But that she sat there and peeled all those mushrooms before sending them is way cool!!!

Yummm fresh mushies , I would wander (carefully, quietly and after dark) through the neighbouring farms collecting mushrooms. <_<
Mum would then fry them in butter and serve them on toast that night.

All you needed was a little moonlight and you could spot the mushies easy as.

Trudes
26th March 2008, 20:07
We used to do the dawn mushy picking on the stop-bank by our house, had to get down there early to beat all the other local mushy pickers, warm your hands by a fresh cow-pat, watch the sun rise and that low mist rising.... ahh, the good old days, and yep, back home to peel mushys for mum to fry in butter for breakfast! Thank god I have some left, I'm starting to get all drooly again (and nostalgic!)
