Okay I know how I would get there but to explain it ummm well.
leave taupo go up state one to Putaruru head north up 27 up as far as tahuna, turn right to Paeroa, through Karangahape gorge then to Wahi, make sence, follow it on a map, but that would be the best I can think of
Have fun. why you going anyway?

Have to pick up some extremely fragile chromed plastic for a couple of jukeboxes the other way is alot better than than rotorua/tauranga, you are looking at a good 270ish from taupo to waihi instead of there way which is 209. and SH1, so more lax out, give us a bell if you gonna be in tauranga for long , thats during normal daylight hours of course

That route can be made quicker if you turn right just north of Waharoa (Wardville turn-off), then next left - goes direct to Te Aroha. Saves a good 5 minutes, maybe 10 depending on traffic. Could save even more time if you didn't observe speed limits too closely, but I'm sure no-one here would do that...

You'd be suprised what the pink turbo diesel can do... scares a few commodes at the lights and its top speed aint too shabby... but it will be daylight and prolly crawling with HP so i'll be taking it a bit easy... leaving in about 20 mins when the friggin boss gets here with teh pinkMobile.
