View Full Version : Another midweeker - Thursday 16/12/04

8th December 2004, 17:24
Following the success of the midweeker on 8/12, here's the next one in plenty of time for all you non-shift workers to take the day off / pull a sickie:
Coromandel loop. Shall we all meet up at Shell in Clevedon around 9.30? Then head over Kawakawa Bay, Kaiau etc.
Riff Raff
8th December 2004, 19:51
Wheres that? .
You bloody well know where that is :eyepoke: seeing as we were there today, and it's where a whole lot of us met up with the rest of you on the last coro loop. But if you have a better suggestion???
And whats with starting rides at a sparrows fart.. you not heard of sleep. Looks like it will be priority one thru the traffic again.
It's so everyone can get back at a decent time after having to wait for me to catch up all the time!!!
Quite convenient being near your place. Should get everyone to meet at Shell northcross at 0830 then ride thru all the traffic to Clevedon by 930, then i wont feel left out .
I seem to recall the conversation today along the lines of I may as well organise the next ride as well. Since I don't know good rides in the north, you'll just have to be content with southern rides if you expect me to organise them!!! :shake: ;)

Other option is to do the usual meet at AB Papakura, hop off at Drury, head back up to Papakura then Hunua Gorge and Skyhigh Rd to Clevedon. I'm guessing from your comments yesterday that you rather enjoyed Skyhigh!!
Actually I think there's a better way to get to Hunua from Drury that avoids straight boring roads through town, will have to look at map book.

No probs. Got a couple of couches, a dog basket, plenty of space in the garage next to the motorbike. Choose your spot. Oh yeah, and a hosepipe so you can have a shower!!!

Guess it's all just too close to Christmas for everyone.Should make it all the more likely that people could come, if they're like me and have stuff all to do / are heartily sick of work for the year. I'm very sorely tempted to throw a sickie - work is so boring. And I know my way around some of the roads in Hunua (my sisters live there).
I'll let you know closer to the time....

Hope you're trolling.

I should have been more precise in my blurbing. Or burbling.
I'm not actually 'sick of work' - I like work.
I'm just tired of my job, and of being not busy enough. Or not being busy enough. Or like that there.
Plus, the VifFerraRi spent the whole weekend in the gargre, so I need a (non-commuting type) ride.

I have held my tounge many a time in paint shops when crap advice is dolled out by the above staff.

I'm sorry everybody. After organising this ride I'm now not going to be able to come. I got bashed on the back of the head at work today. Spent 5 hours flat on my back at Middlemore with a c-collar on (going to be way more sympathetic towards any patients I fit one too from now on), and have an injury to C2 and C3, which they are 90% sure is just ligament damage. However this means that I will be wearing a neck brace for at least the next 10 days, so no riding for me. Oh yeah, and it means I can't do my full motorbike licence test which I'm booked in to do next week. Oh and I can't drive my car either because I can't turn my head from side to side. To say that I'm a tad upset would be a major understatement. :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

Thanks, I might just have to do that F/F. Discovering today that there's not a hell of a lot you can do when you can't move your head. And my flatmates away all this week so I'm having to fend for myself.
As for the cause - that would be someone trying to play a practical joke on me and it going very wrong. Was very angry and managed to drive my ambulance about 5km before the dizzyness and vomiting hit me. My colleague drove me straight back to hospital despite all my protests (we make the worst patients) - and it was immediately noted that I was holding my head as if it was going to fall off, which caused a bit of concern.
Now I just have to do the rest and recovery thing, inbetween bouts of feeling sorry for myself and feeling extremely pissed off.

Cos 10 days is not long..... next year I got 8 weeks of doing nothing.... and no bike riding during that time... so now is the time to catch up on sleep and chatting with ya mates.... having lots of cups of coffee....
You going for your test next week? Can you ring them and cancel it and not loose money ? Or will you have to repay it again?
Just enjoy the time off work.... sitting back watching tv.... or reading... but no heavy lifting... oh yeah you already know that about no heavy lifting aye...lol.

Thanks Crashe - appreciate it.
As long as I cancel test at least 2 working days beforehand I won't lose my money.
And I guess delaying my test means I won't rush out and buy a bigger bike straight away, and then regret not waiting for the 2005 Ducati's  to arrive in NZ. They should be in the shops end Jan/beginning of Feb so I should hopefully be recovered by then.

I had a CT scan about 2 years ago, and the doctor said, "Well, we didn't find anything."
I'd expected them to at least found a small hamster wheel, clockwork motor, rubber band, or summat. :spudwhat:
