Coming out of work today I lowsided in gravel at low speed but fast enough to bend the front fairing in a way that I can't turn the handle bars far left. Also further damage to the transmission cover so I'm now leaking oil. So I've given up on that FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT YAMAHA for now. It can sit in the driveway under it's cover for however long it takes for me to bring it to roadworthyness. From January 15, I will be in my cage for transport and it's likely to stay that way for same time. I'll be bowing out of biking for some time. I just wish I hadn't made the fateful decision to give up a pristine Gn125 for a bomb :(.

Just thought I'd share.

Give up biking? Not an option, just a breather until I can finance something else/fix this hunk.

Just get a new transmission cover, change the oil, strip off the fairing and ride it naked intill you can fix the fairing.

Did the fairing crack or did you just bend the mounts?
If so just get a big spanner and cresent and bend them back.

Anyway get off the computer and into the gargre!

Words of encouragement, too bad the bike is stuck at work. Can't ride it in it's current state. Don't even have a way to get it home.

Know the feeling Magua.

After having my first bike for only a few months it got taken out by a cage. Now financials dicatate that it wont be replaced for sometime. Circumstances do change though and once more we'll both be bikers with bikes.

Keep the faith

Bad luck mate, the clutch cover is just a matter of buying a new one, or someone on here might be able to weld it up... the fairing mount can be bent back with a bit of brute force.....

I know how you feel, but im on the other side, ive got 3 bikes and a car, but can't afford to ride or drive them :crybaby:

9th December 2004, 18:32
Mate i know a guy who can weld up the clutch cover maybe(depending on damage)(calling mr death_inc) or i got quoted an alternator cover (other side) for like $45ish as for the other stuff you supply the coke a cola(i don't drink and ride) and i'll come help you get the bike up and running. If you read a couple of the threads going around , there are always people willing to help. People helped me so in return i offer my service and so on and so forth. Sing out if you need a hand :Punk: :ride:

Ok I'll bring the bike back by van, didn't really want to ride it in it's current state anway. I tried to start it at work and it didn't like that. The fairing seems to be alright, I unscrewed it from the frame and it popped back into place so now I just need to move the frame back to match it. Which will need some brute force alright.

Dude heres a lil racetrack trick (that KK forgot i must note)
You have the fairing off.
Get some thick cardboard and with some help from a mate lay the bike on its side. On the oposite side to what ya crashed it on.
with a clean rag and some oth the petrol from ya tank wash the cracked cover thoughroughly.
Repeat this step then wash again with hot soapy water
Buy some sellys High temp knead it you can buy it from repco or even the warehouse. mix it properly and with clean dry hands.
push the knead it into the crack.
wait 12 hours for it to set. (for racing its 12 minutes but thats racing)
I repaired the front of a mates crankcase cover with this stuff and its still in there
