View Full Version : How manly/girly is your ride?

If your ride is stands out from the crowd: how manly / girly is your ride, and what makes it that way?
I'm just curious, because I've had some interesting conversations lately about female-named bikes, the rare male-named bikes, diesel dykes, metrosexuals, petrolsexuals, and stereotypes.
Feel free to nominate people and their rides.
Food for thought is in the attached image (found via stumbleupon)

I've always thought the KTM bikes were males...

Nothing feminine about Hogs - that's all I can say.
I guess my ZXR250 looks slightly more masculine without its front fairings, I still refer to it as she though.

I ride a Honda (Gay) Hornet (old man), so I guess I ride an old gay man's bike.
I really do need to 'streetfighter' it a bit I think.;)

A bike is a piece of machinery without gender. It doesn't have a name. It doesn't have a personality. These are all traits that people give to machinery to make the machinery seem more human and friendly. To give the machinery humanity so it's failings can be attributed to something other than an actual human's failure (to ensure the machine is designed well, is mechanically sound...etc)

Well even though Im much lower to the ground I still tend to really get noticed while Im out on the roads. Do not really like the colour but I did not have much choice. I reckon it looks like a friggin grasshopper, but I can live with that as its just nice to be riding something again...

Bet there's a whole lot of guys out there disappointed to hear that (oo errrr)!
(But they'd just be perverts anyway)
Colapop - shades of "I Robot" in there perhaps?
p.s. my Bandit is called "CoCo" (after Coco Bandicoot [girl]- spunky, adventurous, tomboy!).

My bike lives in a one-bike, two-riders household and has two distinct personalities to suit. One fairly mad-n-racy, the other slower-but-still-lots-of-fun. Both seem to be female, for what it is worth.

Both of mine are called baby - big baby (SV) and little baby (FXR). Although if I had to nail it down i guess big baby is a boy - due to the two brothers pipe it is loud, obnoxious and it gets me into a great deal of trouble. Also there is something really thrilling about riding something that has so much power.
As for little baby I don't know, I guess a girl. She is subtle, agile and has hidden depths. While she doesn't have power or speed she has cunning and tends to woop the arse of the big boys when lane splitting on the way to work.

Now, that's a bit of engineering. How do you steer it? The handles[pedals] don't seem to connect? and the brakes/gear cables look quite clever too.

Brake, steer and pedal all with my hands, surprising how quickly I picked it up, pretty much straight away. However the physiotherapist that I'm with had a go and from what she said was all over the place...

My bike makes me really manly coz it's so little and not powerful therefore it proves that I have nothing to prove (going by the big engine small dick theorem).

Yep, my bike is a 16 year old female....
At the point of starting to cost heaps now....
She is pretty sexy, 'cos lots of guys admire her lines. The other half is a tad jealous of her... NOT. Actually she likes her ;)
Goes like a Belt Fed Mortar too.... The CBR that is... Not disclosing what me and my other half get up to on here!
As for a name... Well, had her since she was 12, and haven't thought of one.
I did call her "slut" when she lay over on a windy day outside work one day!
Going down for a blow....
Had to spend heaps on plastic surgery, and makeup after that.
Front end has had a bit of a rework, and I have updated the rear end to take out a little sag, and put on some newer bits.
She looks very hot now.

Is she really that hot? Lets be honest here, I if found her sprawled out naked in my tent at a motorcylce Rally, I'd warn here that if she didn't get dressed and out of there within 8 hours I'd whisper for help. :innocent:

I can't say I've ever named my bikes or attributed a gender to them but I had to take the ST into Boyles the other day due to a slow leak in the front tyre. When I was picking it up, John was looking for my name on the key board and I had to point out it was on the hook named 'Enterprise'!!
I queried "WTF is that all about"? and he laughed, stuck his hands out and said "I dunno but it is a pretty big bird".........I guess my bike has now been dubbed with a name which reflects it's presence, but it still isn't gendered.
Only question now is, should I be Kirk, Piquard, Janeway or Archer? Hmmmm...dunno.....having 7of9 work under me would be OK though.

Just came back from a ride with Harley riders. Different style altogether from where and how I ride.
They certainly have less chance of collecting speeding tickets.
Through the twisties I could see just how good my bike is. How easy it is to ride and how quiet. I'm pretty sure I don't want a Harley.
Those Honda Pan Europeans really are very good.
I wasamazed at the fuel economy of the Harley. 1600cc but very frugal. Probably didn't get it over 3000rpm though so I guess it is to be expected.
It was a great day for a ride today. We had fun....

On the open road it does about 6 litres per 100km. 6.5 if I am 2 up with gear.

My first CB250 Hornet is known as the "little ol'hornet" and is a guy, next in line is my RZ250 "Daisy" who is a dirty girl since she wants to be ridden harder and faster all the time.
Then her little sister "Pippi" came from down the line to the big smoke and is wondering where the other A100 Suzukis are playing!
Finally, big bro came to town, the CB900F "Big Ol'Hornet" and his little bro is sure glad hes come to take up some of the riding hours and milage!
Also at the back somewhere are my two little mini-motos called "Chapi" and "Chapo"
When I be riding, I don't have a name picked out, it just suddenly pops into my mind when I'm out and about! I thought the Big Ol'Hornet would be a big sister, but the "vibe" I got off it was a guy!
And ayup, will be doing the same method of naming when I get my other rides!
Girly as, ZZR in an ugly light pearl green.working on the paint job...
My Madison is also very girly.
She is certainly a female, as am I, and just about all of the bikes I have ridden except maybe the DR250 we have just done up, which doesn't have a name yet but I think might be a man.
