Mornin,
We're doing a quiet tour Edgecumbe, Tauranga, Okoroire, Rotorua, Edgecumbe.
One of our group is a lady L-plater so we will be taking it very quietly indeed.. 85-105km/hr.
Anyone who wants to come is very welcome, particularly L-Platers - you will be well looked after. C'mon in the water's fine.
Leaving Edgecumbe 10-10:30, stopping for a break in the Tauriko Area whenever we get there - maybe 11:45 ish ;

You are a funny guy - you make a HUGE cry about someone who is on the police force happening to say he has a 'bullshit and liar detector' (or words to the like) - Jumping up and down, crying like a baby, demanding his "badge number" so you can report him. Make threats about "taking it international" (which I still find the funniest piece of shit I have ever read on the Internet), then post a thread about taking a ride with absolutely no intention of keeping to the speed limits (70 kph for a learner remember), posting the time and route that you are taking.
I'm guessing that you didn't get snapped - but I would have laughed my ass off it you did.

How do you know that the learner doesn't have an exemption? You don't! So quit it and go find some other hole to plonk yourself down.... Sheesh!

Well actually I do ......
Because the person was an "L-plater" and they are not given exemption to ride over 70km.
If you needed examption for going faster than 70 KM they give you the opportunity to sit your full (one time only). Pass then you drop the "L"''s, but fail and you have to remain with the "L"'s and the restrictions inclusing the 70km limit. There is NO, ZERO, NADA oppurnity to get exemption from that. Sooooo, anyone has a L plate on their bike they are not allowed to go over 70.
Have been thru this process, got the exemptions, lost the "L-Plate" and spent quite a bit of time talking to LTNZ finding about exemptions and documented it for others on this forum.
Thats how I know, so Sheesh! yourself.

cool, I got some greens for this - seems some folks would have come. We will post again on our next learner ride.
Newbs, we are happy to take our time (60-80k will be too slow though - this is state highway), so if you can hum along (mostly) at 90-100k slowing for the corners, then you will fit right in.
Is there be any interest in an organised learner ride ? Something with a little more notice ?
