I have to agree with the naysayers. having been a new 750 Commando owner, way back before time began, it looks a bit of a hotch potch to me. Looks like a more recent motor in a "fastback" tank and rear assembly, which stopped production before 71. There are WAY prettier commandos than this, eg. John Player, Gus Kuhn across the counter kits etc. Anyway just my 2 cents

It's beautiful, in that it's a classic and in good nick and long may it remain that way. But strip away the classicness and nostalgia and it is a bit of an ugly bird.

Be nice to own though. :)

The high pipes are kind of cool. It's certainly got visual presence; other fastbacks are better, though. Looks better in the small photos.

Don't like the tail and the pipes aren't my kinda thing. The rest of it looks awesome.

Here's a normal Fastback. Much more classy.

sorry in terms of a cafe - that is a fat ugly one.
in fact if a true cafe racer got hold of it - they would rip about half the things off the bike.
Cafe racers were built fast.....not pretty.
To me the Manx looks 100 better than this boat.

Cafe Racers where built to LOOK fast by wannabee racers. Some do look very pretty indeed.

That Norton doesn't appeal to me either. The tail peice would be the first thing to go.

As long as you go in deep and come out hard you'll be sweet!

Do you want the naked version or the full dress version? But they like to be ridden very hard, they dont like just slow tootles thru the countryside. They like a firm confident hand. Are you up to it? :devil2:

KiwiRat

I'll give it a shot. I have had a couple of similar models, and whilst high in maintenance are very satisfying to ride.

I did learn after a particularly nasty incident that you should NEVER, EVER, EVER lend them to your mates. No matter how hard they beg. I got her back all dirty and scratched up.
