Hi
I would like to meet other people in Auckland that have NSR250's - trade spares and stories etc.
I have seen a few around - and I have seen some on here but trawling through the forums is a pain.

Drop me your details and lets get a bit of an NSR "club" going.

Thanks

I have a MC18 NSR 1989 Model - they are manic 250's - theres no faster 250s - hit 10,000 rpm in first & second and you need to be leaned over the front of them - very exciting to ride. The most easy bike to do wheelies on that I have ever owned. I bought it for track days. The problem is it's pretty much a racing bike - wants full throttle all the time, not ideal for road riding, and I have a litre bike for that, and I can't be bothered with track days at the mo, as just don't have the time. (young kids!!!!!). Going for road rides is all I can fit in these days, and I use a SV1000S for that.
My NSR is for sale if you know anyone that may want it. Its done 18,000kms, i give it a blast now and then and mechanically its all good It had been dropped when I bought it, I also dropped it (on the other side - feck!), so theres a few plastic welds in its Rothmans Blue Coloured Honda fairings, so it's not mint, but it is a sound one mechanically. Would make an outstanding track bike for someone. PM me if anyone wants it

Well, there is, but NSR's are still fecking sweet.

'specially if you can get your hands on the MC28 Swipe Card model, DO NOT put the HRC dry race card in while on the road. "Swipe cards? BAH, its only a 250, hand me that race card." Eeep

Im proud to say iv had three, x2 mc21's and x1 mc28, one of which i made 300cc, others i rebuilt etc etc,

reason the 89's seemed so wild was cause there ass sat lower and there suspension was bit softer thus front came up bit easier.

there great bikes but if your going mc21 or older, best to rebuild from the bottom up to save you hastles... alot of people just rebuild the top end.. not knowing that all that does mainly is restore compression, doesnt mean its not going to seize, or the bottom end aint guna give way, also there mostly oil-injected as standard and as soon as you take em to the track , off the gas hard you can do out the bottom end slowly or quickly depending on there condition due to the oil pump closing off. but can be fixed by adjustment to fully open or conversion to pre-mix.

the race card- is pointless unless you have HRC race lume or it wont even work youl will recieve an error message on your dash(which means you wont have any road electronics either... the mc28 was really nice bike, very reliable and gota love the sound of that dry clutch.. IMO best 250 available regardless of power...

I still got some parts lying round , few barrels and few pistons if you need,. let me know, (use TTS!!!!!)

I had a de-restricted 88 MC18 R2J that I took to the track a few times, such smooth power delivery compared to my old RG150 haha. Sold it earlier this year for ~1k after a small seize to be completely rebuilt to race again.

Not sure what power that bike made, but ~60hp with just a derestrict and re-jet to suit seems on the mark.

According to this dyno chart for the R5K anyhow. Pretty impresive increase
