The Leukemia Foundation has (I'm assuming) asked my school to see if there's any girls willing to have their heads shaved as a fundraising act... I decided why the hell not.
There's a few of us doing it - thank the Lord, I'd almost be too scared to do it if no-one else would - so hopefully we'll get plenty of cash in with donations...
First saw the posters this morning (Monday) and they caught my eye as they go along the lines of "they say no to piercings... NO to tattoos... what will they say when you shave your head?" and I'm a known trouble maker for having piercings that the school won't let me have. So I was hooked.
What's your good deed for the... next week? :Pokey:

Yusss. Before and after photos from you too then please!
I just do feel so glad some other girls from school are doing it. I have a lot or pride in who I am but explaining to people for the next few months why I have no hair will get tedious... As well as the weird looks, I get enough of them already!

Shave
When you get your head shaved, the next day get dressed up in the blackest, most dangerous looking clothes you have, kicker boots, studs if you have them, and get someone to take photos of you looking MEAN.
You'll never shave your head again probably, and if you miss the chance to take some crazy freaky photos you'll never forgive yourself.

The most dangerous looking clothes I have are probably my bike gear!
Though I do still have my trenchcoat from my stint as a goth kid...
Maybe a mix of the two?

Good stuff...and remember that your helmet will be 'too big' until your hair grows back. Wear a beanie or something.

Good for you, will get the other half (OWNER) to throw some cash your way from me as sending ££s aint much help .
It is a worthy cause and who gives a fook about how people perceive you, their hang-ups are for them to deal with.
Look at Sinead O'Connor she was shaved and was incredibly stunning.

Good advice. Thanks, I'll do that today while I have the day off! :) I'd have had to find my beanie soon anyway I guess. Stupid winter.
And cheers N1mpho. :D Hmm, talking of Sinead O'Connor, I feel like listening to Troy...
Edit: Actually, one of my best friend's mothers has a shaved head and she pulls it off a treat so I guess no reason I shouldn't. Got told by one of my friends I probably have the right shaped head for it, and another one says he and I can go for walks around town with our shaved heads afterwards... He won't be getting his head shaved for it though, he keeps his hair at a number one length anyway.

Back about 10 years ago when I was in 6th form I shaved off my shoulder length hair for charity. Raised around $800-900 and there were about 4 of us. Real good way to get some fundraising! Good onya. You'll love the fact that you dont have to use much shampoo and in the morning when you get outta bed you can just wet your hair and of you go! Though your helmet may feel a little wierd!

Sweet, well here's hoping we can fundraise at least as much as you guys did (though I'll take into account that the dollar would have been worth more then :bleh:)...

Go for it,when having radiation I quite often met ladies whose hair fell out due to chemo or radiation. They were oblivious(younger ones)than older ladies,as they said it will grow later, and wigs were available.
If you can,get a silk scarf to wear under helmet, allows the helmet to move a bit, better than gravel type rash on head.

Don't think we're donating our hair. Just shaving our heads in support... I think I'll keep a braid of my hair, so I can see how long it takes to grow it back out again or something :p

I might do a real thread looking for sponsors... But really it's a bit like well, you don't need to sponsor ME, just sponsor the cause and donate where you see the buckets I guess? :/

Ohhh, now that's a thought (the boys chasing!)... Either one will make me laugh I guess so it doesn't matter but I'll let you know of results if I remember to. But so far the feedback from the majority of my friends has been 'you'll still look hot with or without your hair'. But they're sorta required to say that or they'd get the bash.
I mean, uh... Never. Me? Violent? Not at all, you honour...
Is shaving all my hair a requirement? :devil2:
Tell ya what, I've met a girl who shaved her arms before, looked horrible as regrowth. :done:

I probably should video it. Turns out we'll (the other girls shaving their heads and myself) be doing it on the last Tuesday of term, which will be the 15th or April... Go figure. My school doesn't like to conform to other people's deadlines apparently, so while the rest of NZ will be done this stint on the 13th...
Ehhhh.

To be honest Livvy I don't know:wacko: It has taken me so long to get it where it is & that I'm happy with it. If there was a serious incentive to do it then I probably would.:2thumbsup
