Unfortunately its a fact of life that Metal does attract some unsavioury characters - something I've witnessed personally.
Sad to hear about Dimebag. But not unexpected in the land that desroyed the sense of personal responsibility and insists on giving its citizens the right to hide firearms on their body.
Perhaps the club could consider a long-standing policy in this country of frisking dodgy-looking people on entry to clubs.
Nah - I guess that would infringe on their personal liberties. Screw anyone else's right to live.
My only consolation is that there's a lot of metal fans in jail.

Can’t say I’m a fan, (or really have heard much Pantera), but it was still well shocking to hear it on the radio.
Americans & their handguns huh?
That combined with people who thing they own celebrities lives.

Ohh puhlease ...you sure you're not thinking about Marilyn Manson fueled school yard killing sprees?? Or maybe rappers glorifying drive-by shootings and the 2pac incident?? Don't forget John Lennon too...nasty looking crowd that lot!!!
Or maybe society is to blame not the music??
There was a recent interview where Phil had some unsavoury things to say about Dimebag Daryl whereas Dimebag and Vinnie were blaming Phil and Rex.
Still it takes a fucked up person to go postal about it - Only in America I guess :(

Of course not Hoon. Do I look (or sound) like Tipper Gore to you?
I'm talking about metal concerts (and pnk ones too) have always had their audience share of malcontent arsehole idiots who just want to beat people up rather than listen to music.
Still I guess its progress that the arseholes have moved on from pool cues and knives in the 70s to guns now.
God bless America. NOT

hey, it worked for george bush: 'let's stop terrorism by declaring war on islam!'
'lets improve the economy by giving tax cuts to the rich!'
can't argue with the logic eh.

... and, with a total body count of only four, he didn't even make the cut for SpankMe's other site.
Wonder what sort of gun he used.
Anyone else see the photo of the shooter on the news tonight? Looked like a right stereotypical pimply 19-year-old metalhead.
I blame his parents.

Perhaps the club could consider a long-standing policy in this country of frisking dodgy-looking people on entry to clubs.
Generally speaking, you go through searches at nightclubs in the US ... perhaps not in this case, it is up to individual nightclub owners. Certainly if you are going to a larger event (say a smallish concert venue ala Studio / St James up in AKL) you'll get frisked and probably a metal detector.
I'm guessing that this was one of those occasions where searches weren't carried out because everyone "looks like they can handle themselves" ....

Felt like that myself.
Had a few drinks then got the missus to drive my car while I cranked the stereo, wound the sub up to 11 and threw on Cowboys and FBD.
Haven't quite got it all out of my system yet.
I think tonights drive home might include a bit of Vulgar

Well Phil has made a statement here (http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000739061) .
By the looks of things (and as you'd imagine) Dimebags death seem to have affected him to the point where he's quiting. If it turns out to be true, and not just said in the moment of grief it'd be a real shame.
