Couldn't find the link to a guy's write-up of his track day, but here's a thread where some Connie owners show their chicken strips: http://www.concours.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=40692
PS: been off the edge of my rear - on both sides. Got chicken strips on the front and that's ok by me!

that first pic is good, I like the riders attitude, pointing his head at where he wants to go, the bike just follows his lead, as opposed to the rider behind who IMHO is working hard

Holy shit!!! those guys are crazy ,you read some of the speeds they take just to get rid of "chicken stripes" ..balls of steel
"I regularly (though not always) double+ (65-70 vs 30) posted advisory limits on corners, but haven't gotten past the same 3/8-1/2" strip barrier. ":gob:
you certainly would't wont to be riding like that with the panniers still attached !

Was jus' thinkin', too, if it's good enough to have a Ford v. Holden V8 race series, imagine a Kwaka v. Suzuki series. The 14 against the 'Busa...
Then if Honda ever invents a new Blackbird...:woohoo:

My rear's (tyre) looking a bit 2nd hand - not sure what I'll do. Looks like the Pirelli is going to do 10k or so which is the best I've had out of rear since my RF riding days...

Like the bit at the end where he plugs taking the leap and doing a track day !
"Oh, and a final lesson, if you've been on the fence about signing up for a track school, DO IT! I had a blast, and if a chicken like me can have a good time, some of you daredevils would have the time of your lives. It was the best $550 I've ever spent in motorcycling and would be a bargain at twice that price."
Have to agree with him ! Three track days so far and with an average of 80 minutes of track time per day, i'd have to say it would be comparible to a years riding experience on a sport bike for a guy like me who's only ever riden cruisers !

My total track time is 4 laps around the full Manfield circuit on my RF. Absolutely loved it! Can't see my Connie going out on the track - not keen on tossing it away. Besides, the poor old tyres would get toasted!
i figure i should try a dual compound and see how it goes
i got about 10 out of the PR 2 on the RF...probably be lucky to get that much on the bird tho

Hadn't notice prior but got up to Taupo on sat and found i had a bloody flat spot growing, far too much straight line riding lol was happy to scrub a little off the sides ! Nothing worse than changing a tyre when its still got half its rubber ! I honestly wish there were more track days at manfield, to the point of joining VIC racing club to compete in clubmans. But then of course it aint insured like it is for track days !
