Christmas shopping for the kids

Last years christmas was cool. My 2 girls got a quad bike for christmas, a BIG dollhouse and lotsa other stuff too.

This year they're getting add on floors to the already BIG dollhouse, plus furniture for each room, a cabbage patch doll each, more barbies and maybe a jigsaw or two. And that's just from their parents.

I like christmas for all the family gathering and good will among people and all that...But the presents...I remember the presents. I wanna be a kid again.

My favourite present getting xmas was when I was 13. I got:
- A barbie corvette
- $500
- A GI Joe Helicopter with pilot
- A McGyver kit bag containing a soldering kit, screwdriver set a beer mug and $10 worth of mixed lollies
- A trip to Rainbows End with an all ride, all day pass.
and then I also got to go sailing round the Marlborogh Sounds for a week with 3 of my family.

I know christmas isn't supposed to about presents, but what 3 things would you ask Santa for .... within reason.

Me I'd like:
- my bike to be working and road legal (1 year outta rego :()
- a new car stereo
- leather bike pants

I am not really a big in to xmas person, i have worked xmas pretty much every year for the past 10 not worryed me, but thats possible due to not having kids etc to worry about .

Personally, toys never worried me to much as a kid, my dad was manager for hasbro/milton bradley or something silly like that pretty much one of the world largest toy companys, so we us to get the best of everything that wise, we had every GI Joe avaible we even had ones that didn't come to nz, same with every transformer, etc etc.

I would ask santa, to pay of my mortage, and that i would be happy, other than that i got all i need/want

Used to love Guy Fawks night too. Let off the crackers and all that. Now you ask the kids what the fireworks are all about and they have no idea. Haloween? yep they know that one. Trick or treat.

Not very religous but one thing we both insist on is that they come to church with us on Christmas day.

Oh yes three things Happy, health, and prosperity and that goes for all the KB bikers here.

That's it isn't it.... I love giving a gift to someone and seeing that's honestly exactly what they wanted/needed/like. Knowing that you know someone that well and you can make them happy is better than receiving a gift sometimes.

Although I do remember a funniest home video episode, where there was this clip with this kid, who was more interested in the box the toy came in, than the toy itself....that's just f***in funny :lol:

I still prefer birthdays than xmas tho ... I mean I like xmas but there's something more special about birthdays. :hug:

This year I'm going to seriously enrage my kids. The santa sacks they are expecting to be full on the 25th will be completely empty. The 4 of them are only getting one present from us (see attached pics).

I'm thinking of stringing them along the lines of "Oh my goodness, did santa forget where we live ?????" If I can keep a straight face it'll be worth videoing their faces.

Of course this assumes I can put the thing together the night before :disapint:

Hahaha!! We did this exact same thing years ago when the tow oldest boys were small. Bought a trampoline, left it in the gargre till Christmas Eve, then I assembled it when they were asleep.
Christmas Day, we nonchalantly open the curtains in the dining room, and said nothing. Eventually, one of the boys happened to glance outside, and went into a trance, with his mouth open. Then the other one. Eventually one of them said something,and we asked "Where did that come from??! Santa must've delivered it with a helicopter in the night. Did you hear anything?"

It was a priceless moment. :niceone:

After wracking their brains about what to get No2 daughter for Xmas,wife and No1 daughter had a look in her room for clues - they figure the best thing they can do for her is to just throw out all the crap,it will improve her life vastly...

I got my 11yr old boy a gas soldering iron,gunna be some melted plastic and burnt fingers as they figure it out.Just got to find something to match for the 8 yr old.

I'm glad to see you're not a safety nazi, Motu. I had tools for gifts when I was young (and not those stupid plastic ones either, but real knives, smaller-sized saw, hatchet, etc.) and I learnt some skills with them (and still have a full complement of fingers and other extremities).

All my kids have a tool box,the girls too,and Xmas and birthdays they get things to fill them up.My wife is horrified to think that any of her kids would go out into the world without a well stocked tool box.She still has her Eden 4 draw with a Triumph sign on the door.
