got snotted on the Nor western this morning splitting lanes

just before Patiki Rd

If you are on here I have one thing to say - you cut me off by riding ACROSS in front of a 15 ton truck - even if traffic was moving slow it was a big chance - then took off splitting lanes way to quick - I was not surprised to see you on the bus lane with the bike broken.

Your lucky to be alive - try and learn from your mistake.

Whne you ride like that it aint the cages fault, you were a crash looking for a place to happen.

Rule 1 :It is always the cages fault no matter how badly you ride or how big a fuckwit you are

Rule 2: if it isn't the cages fault refer back to rule one

Who said the rider was young or a guy? Could easily have been old like you.

I saw him on side of road, prob in his late 20 early 30s - (had helmet Off)
Red bike around 600 - 700 cc. didnt get make as it was side on when stopped on side of road after being picked up, and side on when he went in front of me so close I couldnt see it. He was lucky I ride and was watching him in mirror before he cut in front of me, most other truckies would have crushed him.

I think the last letters on plate were TEC.

Another biker stopped to assist him on a black or dark blue m/c

and to who ever asked it was just after 8am.

To the other person who commented is it safe to lane split - well I think most of us do it with care and consideration and get away with it, I didnt say dont do it - just dont do it like a maniac.

Been at least two other prangs on the North Western in the last month or so involving crazy lane splitters..

I know that I find myself moving over more often to let the little buggers past.. Even had a scoot :scooter: rip past me at about 80k through traffic last week!

I know that I would rather get there 2 min later then risk anyone moving across on me!:thud:

If you split about 20km faster than traffic, I reckon you are as good as gold most people see you, just watch the younger cage drivers, tend to be impatient!:baby:

Can see plod doing another sting before long!

Many many moons ago when I was young and lived in Stockholm we used to ride with this other "group.." of riders. On a Friday when going out of the city there would be 15 - 20 big bikes with straight pipes. The motorway south would always be at almost standstill, a 3 lane one. So there is 2 "lane splitting" ones and then the outside and inside. That makes 4 - 5 bikes in each.

First time I rode with these guys I could not believe it, 80 - 100k/h down the standing still cars. ( The lanes are wider then here in NZ, that is one thing I noticed straight away when I came here) But there was no way I was gonna be left behind so...

Suprisingly there was never an accident. Can only imagine what mum and dad with 3 kids in the Volvo was thinking when suddenly all these bikes came blasting past...

When I think about it today I get all cold. I imagine what would have happened if someone suddenly had changed lane or opened a door...

But those days that was not an option. Never gonna happen to me.

Interesting

We have all seen idiots like the one described...

Yet we are amazed and annoyed when the police target lane splitting....

Hmmmm....

Was 1st on the scene at a crash on the Wellington motorway this morning, was a good reminder about just how vulnerable we all are, regardless if we're riding in a manor that's considered safe or not.
