Leather sucks when doing a long ride in the rain, once its wet it takes forever to dry out, easy way round that is to carry some cheap pullovers under your seat, work as good as any codura stuff.Whatever you end up with make sure it has armour if it it doesnt the only thing it will save is some of your hide, ive a permanately naffed elbow and all it would have taken to avoid was armour in my old jacket.

I prefer leather myself as it doesnt flap as much in the wind...& any inbuilt armour wont move around as much as in a looser fitting cordura outfit.

where do you get cheap pull overs small enough to fit under a bike seat? Believe it or not the Warehouse,30,000 kms with them and they are just as good as the Teknic cordura crap i bought.Actually i meant under the rear seat......on my TLS anyway.

Leather for crashing in and when the weather is OK. As mentioned above it takes forever to dry and leaks like a seive.
Cordura for winter. Tries to be waterproof is warmer and can be more cofortable on long rides.
Depends on how much protection you want to give up in favour of comfort. This goes two ways though, if you are cold wet and miserable at the end of a long days ride you are more likely to make mistakes in the first place.

I've worn a variety of gear over the last 34 years, and I'd have to say that leather is the best, with a two-piece oversuit for wet weather.
However (but), having said that, in D'Auckland's unpredictable weather, Cordura is much more versatile, and if you get an unexpected rain shower, or cold(ish) weather snap, then you don't have to do anything to stay warm and dry.

My current gear is a leather touring jacket with removable panels with mesh underneath (for summer), and removable waterproof and thermal liners. It's much nicer to wear than my old Teknic jacket, which was Cordura with leather overlays on the sleeves and shoulders, and a thermal liner (waterproof coating built into the Cordura). However the Teknic's armour was better: built-in back protector, padded kevlar on shoulders and elbows, and removable armour in elbows/forearms and shoulders. While the Macna has armour, it's not quite as extensive. Might have to swap the armour over and buy a better back protector.
Pants are cordura with removable thermal liner and leather on the seat and inside of the lower legs. I also have a pair of leather pants that I haven't worn for quite a while, and a pair of Motoline overpants to go over them when it rains.
