Previously the reputation bar (under your post count in any post) would show a light green square for every 100 points of reputation. I've changed this to show a light green square every 1,000 points and a dark green square every 2,000 points. Now it's maxed out at 16,000 points (5 dark, 6 light) rather than at 1,600 like it used to.

Be careful, MT, people's reputations are at stake!

Or that you too were the victim of a drive by gripping...:pinch:

This is stupid. Now my rep has been "compacted" down to two squares! Couldnt you come up with a gradated system which would allow more top end but still allow those with less rep to have a sense of satisfaction in their smaller gains?

Rather hard on new chums who must wait a long time to escape the blue world on shame. Could you not make it a light green every 100 until 1000, then it goes back to a single bright green ?

Actually, it's not working. According to User CP I have 19385 rep points. yet the bar shows only 12 squares?

NOTE there is an error in that if you have 4100 rep points you will only see 3 squares instead of 4. I shall take a look at things tomorrow. However, in the code 500 rep points are removed from the total before the number of squares are calculated. I am assuming this is done so because otherwise an error occurs that displays high so they chose to display low instead.

Does that help Ixion?

Yay for me, I've fixed it!!!! It now displays properly.

Unfortunately rewriting how the rep bar displays is not a trivial matter and having some sort of graduated system is damn tricky and likely to give me ulsers. Sorry.

some dodgy rounding code eh?

No you haven't. Your algorithm is declared as 'one green square per 1000 points'. So, depending on rounding my 19385 should show as either 19 or 20 green squares. Instead they show as 11, of two different shades.

I don't actually care in the slightest, just pointing out that there's still apparently a bug.

You should do away with the totals sh*t altogether.

The rep bar will show a maximum of 16,000 points, 5 dark green (2,000 rep points each) and 6 light green (1,000 rep points each). If I change it to display more it will start screwing up the layout etc. So anyone over 16,000 points gets 11 squares and it will not change, no matter what.

I'll change my 1st post.

Must admit it certainly makes the senior people who've been around forever look more spesh but you've killed my sense of achievement at getting like 5 bright ones. Now I realise how uncool I really was compared to people who still have 5 :first:

Just don't reset my post count before I get to 1000.. It's all I have left now ;)

Ixion will do it for you if you can figure out a way of getting VBulletin to accept COBOL plugins.
