I’ve got some areas on my car that I want to fix up. No major prang or anything, but little rough spots/small dings on four panels. I was told by a panelbeater that I’d be looking at between $200-$450 per panel, depending on which ones needed doing.
Frankly, it’s not worth spending that much on the car, but do I want to tidy it up a bit and prevent any of the spots rusting - I don’t want it too look too rangi, but I don’t want to spend a fortune fixing it up either as the damn things done 200,000k’s and isn’t worth 3/10’s of fuck all. I’m happy to do work on it myself, and have done a bit of this work in the past (long, long time ago, but with more tools and the help of someone who knew what they were doing).
So what are my options?
I’ve seen paint in a spray can that has been matched to your cars colour (I’m not talking about the cans at Repco etc, but where the paint is “professionally” matched to your actual car and put in a can while you wait). But I’m thinking that it won’t really come out too close to the original colour as the rest of the cars going to have a clear coat over it, right?
Or should I give it a go? Has anyone actually tried it before?
Or should I just flog it off and buy something in better nick? Not sure I like this option cause the cars been good to me so far (better the devil you know), and any upgrade in car cuts into my “new bike fund”.
