Hey guys
Last night at 7.30pm I was riding down the road when a car on the other side of the road waiting to turn right failed to give way to me and hit me while i was doin 55kph!!! bikes a write off, my gear did its job so no major injuries or broken bones, badly sprained ankle, sore hands and wrists, grazed knees, couple of bumps and bruises on my head from when my helmet hit the road.

Im bloody lucky!

Unfortunatley as a result it has put me off getting another bike, i got very lucky this time, and im not willing to tempt fate again...im gutted

Mate it's just a bike, it can be replaced. The most important thing is you are OK (...well relatively). Assume you've been checked out medically, if not do so now for ACC purposes (physical issues can surface much later).

Don't make your decision too quickly, give it a little time for the "excitement" to wear off so you can make a more considered choice.

just got a call from the police, at this stage its careless use of a motor vehicle

Glad your alright, shame that cages don't seem to 'see' bikes.

At least it was one you could walk away from.

Will you get another hoyo, or something different?

sorry to hear, but glad your ok.

if you still love bikes but are worried about riding on the road maybe you could look at racing or buckets instead ... just a thought

Hey Mate,

Glad your ok! Same thing happened to me except I didn't get up! broke 9 bones.

I was back on a bike (a new one!) before the doctors said I was allowed!

I love the thing, just gotta be so damn slow and careful.

Give it time, no rush - think things over. Don't buy a black bike next time bright orange or something :D

That's bullshit. There's no fucking excuse for pulling out in front of a bike.
Just think how bad it could have been. Should be attempted murder or assault with a deadly weapon. Lock the fuckers up.

Such harsh words.. put yourself in the other person's shoes..
and wait till you or someone close to you in the car driver's position one day..

It'll change your life and your point of view. And you may even curse the bike rider.

Trust me, I've been in both. :msn-wink:

Glad you walked away from it, sounds nasty.

Hopefully the insurance claim will be settled to your liking, quickly.

Good to hear your okay. Not like some of those firefighters in Hamilton today. Go buy a lotto ticket. Thankfully you were doing 55kph and not say 70, which is not uncommon in a 50k area. Good lesson for all of us to slow down. Sounds like your speed may have saved your life. Take it easy for a while.

Glad to hear you are okay and the bike took the hit for you it seems :weep: Like everyone says, take a little time out to chill and deal with the razzmatazz that goes with the paperwork etc.

And oh yeah, go searching for a new bike? :devil2:

Glad to hear that you are ok even thou the bike aint but at least that can be replaced. Give yourself time to recover before making a decision about giving up motorcycling forever. Hopefully once u recover from your injuries you may consider getting yourself another bike and then be able to enjoy motorcycling they way most of us do. Goodluck with your recovery.

dude, it sucks but theres many factors that can effect your driving, although it was definately the cagers fault, jail times a bit rough........
