I'm confused...... not very difficult I know.
I've recently moved to NZ and I've been looking for a bike ever since I got here. Finally found what I've been looking for, an old, old Honda, but it's not registered, and there's no paperwork.
In order to register it I have to prove it has been registered in NZ in the past. But how do I prove that if there's no paperwork? And if I can't prove it, does that mean it can never be registered?:argh:
Must be a way thru.........?

Must be a way thru.........?Does it have an old number plate? What is it? Have look on the steering head. There should be a number stamped on it. Also the engine should have a serial no. on it.

Now, I have only heard about this...

Get a old black plate that has been out of the system for years, fit it on the bike and take in for a VIN. They will say: "Plate is too old, does not come up on our system". You say: "Bummer! I thought you would have had the records all stored". They say: "When all was computerised a few years ago they only went so far back". You say: "Ah well, but as you can see she has been in the NZ system". They say: "Yes, we can see that. OK, we enter her and give you new plates..."

But as I said, this is nothing I have ever done. I would never even contemplate circumnavigating the system!!!... :innocent:
