View Full Version : Dilemma

I have a bit of a dilemma. I move into my new flat this weekend and was due to go down to Napier to pick up some of my bedroom furniture from my storage locker.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the arrangements I had with someone to take me down there (I don't drive) have fallen through.

I need to find a way to get this furniture on the weekend but don't have the money for a moving company as I didn't budget this into my wages etc but have the money for petrol costs.

Does anyone on here have a solution of some sort other than to borrow an air mattress from someone until I can get down there to pick it up.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Bugger, sorry I can help much more than offering my race trailer for you to pack everything in.

Well I know have use of a trailer and a driver. All I need now is a car with a tow bar. Can anyone help me in that regard?

I tried them and sorry but I'm not willing to pay $600. I might as well move all my stuff and store it up here. But alas the wages just don't spread that far for me to afford something like that.

You could always ring around some of the furniture removal companies and see how much they would charge for a back load.

Unfortunately I tried that too and its just not within my budget at the moment. Moving all my gear will be looked in the near future.

Crown are the creme de la creme of relocation contractors. There are many cheaper options. Who else have you gotten quotes from?

The moving company, Nationwide movers, Allied Pickfords. The cost are around the same if not a little cheaper but still out of my budget range at the moment. Maybe my only option is to take my friend up on the air mattress and just move all my shit up here and store it. Since it will happen eventually anyway.

I'm going to taupo this weekend to help a mate move. I heard napier is only an hour away. Never been there but it sounds nice. Offer is on the table if you want.
Would have to do it saturday or sunday and am staying with my friends who are moving house. You would be more than welcome to crash at their house.

Would you be willing to do it 'in one go'??...
Kinda like... down there... load up n head back??
(with a visit to the crew of course)

Fireball & I dont have much on this weekend...
Leave saturday morning (3am-ish)... load up n head back saturday?
(having a 'gathering' sat night, parents off to Rarotonga tomorrow )
I have a ute with a canopy & a towbar... If you wanna pay for diesel, im happy... & if your willing to 'put up with us' for that long (& our music)...
Then the offer is here. (im kinda crap at reversing a trailer, but im sure we'll manage)

Edit: I didnt check properly, I have a bowling comp this weekend... but I can change my squad from sat-fri afternoon. FB's sister is arriving fri night from otago, but ill collect her by 8pm. The offer still stands tho if you cant find a car with a tow bar (unfortunately cant lend u mine as its a company car). Will def have to be a leave early early hours fri night/sat morning, there n back kinda thing as I'll have finals on sun morning & a 'gathering/party' sat night. Let us know if you get stuck, A road trip is always fun & we are willing to help :)

You could borrow my Thrash-mobile but I'm afraid the old girl tops out at 50 up hills, and that's without a trailer.

Also prone to needing a jumpstart, overheating and all other sorts of fun. :)
