Just watching the news two dead on motorcycles in one day on the roads rear auckland, one on a 03 gsxr100 (silver) and another on a older bsa/triumph sorta style bike, cops says speed was involed in the first crash.
Do we know if they are any kbers?
To rest be safe on these roads this xmas, this time of year, alot of cage drives start turning the brains off. and are worse then normal they are holiday mode. Espically in busy tourist areas, around the kopu area etc.
Be safe
Personal i don't do any long distance riding from pretty much 15-12 untol 15-01 due to to many close calls over this time frame by people on holiday.

Crap, there was 2 guys that i rode halfway back to te kuiti from taupo and both of them were riding GSXR 1000's. One was grey, not sure if he was a kiwibiker or not, (the other guy was a kber from hamilton, can't remember his handle though). Dang, hope it wasn't him. What time was it?

From the news report it looks like, and police claimed so, that the rider (Gixxer thou) crossed the centre line on a left 35km/h posted corner, coliding head on with a 4wd. My thoughts are with both riders, their families and friends. Take it safe out there, theres fuck all difference between 'shit that was close' to 'oh shi...'.

The Other bike looks like a Norton Commando (hope that was not one of the Cambridge CC's I know). Always sad, but hey that's part of the risk we take riding, a:(

I dont know how one can say someone died from a heart attack after they have been hit by a 4wd car. As far as I know it would take a post mortem to discover that wouldnt it ?

A male motorcycle rider died after crashing in the Auckland suburb of Swanson at 1.30pm yesterday, police spokesman Jayson Rhodes said.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and speed did not appear to be a factor, he said.
A post-mortem examination would be conducted today to determine the cause of the man's death.
His name would be released after police had contacted his next of kin, Mr Rhodes said.
A second man riding a motorcycle was killed in a separate accident near Pukekohe yesterday.
No further details were available.

Maybe someone in his area could pop around to check it out for you if he lives too far away from you.

Its a pain in the ass knowing there has been an accident while people you know are out riding - especially if those people are prone to having accidents. I've gotten used to the 'ring' the phone makes now.

A post mortem is required and the cause of death is not pronounced until the coroners inquest is complete.

The rider has been named in the NZ Herald:
"In another crash George Young, 49, from Glen Innes in Auckland, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle near Pukekohe at about 11am yesterday."

No
Its called post traumatic cardiac arrestDam, it's been too long since I've Nursed. I forgot that the most common cause of death is cardiac arrest (heart failure). What causes the heart failure is another matter (heart attack, blood loss, electicial shock, etc.). Still sad. My thoughts are with the families and friends.

Very sad and very sobering.
Life is too short aye. Just before I left fro my ride on Saturday morning my Aunty sent me an email about a very close friend of hers who had just died of cancer, it's not motorbike related death but, it did get me thinking and even though I didn't know her friend very, well I had a little cry. Just b/c loss/death is a sad thing - obvious I know but...yeah.

Not to take anything away from them, I'm so impressed by this tread - this site. That KBers look out for one another is cool.
Yesterday I took a ride to Taupo; my 2nd and longest ride so far (thanks Twinle). My plan was to use it as a pre run to riding to Ahipara for Christmas weekend. But now?...hmmm...Drive? Would I be one of those 'lights on but no-ones home' cage drivers? Perhaps not I say. I hope the rider in me would not let the driver in me leave the lights on when I'm not home.
RIP
