View Full Version : Winston Peters vs John Campbell

Who watched the slugging match between these two? It was bloody funny!

What do you think about the fact that one of Peters' ministers made derogatory remarks about Asians and Winston is minister of imigration? I shall withhold my opinion for a bit.

It was amusing. Peters has always been a bit of a Muldoon when it comes to the press but you can't blame him. NZ press manipulate and sensationalise the news, in particular the Campbell show. Peters rightly nailed Campbell when Campbell claimed that the overwhelming majority of NZ businesses were in favor of the trade deal, an non-substaintiated opinion introduced as fact by Campbell.

Campbell's a drama writing monkey, and Peters is just a monkey.

Here's an opinion stated as fact.

Campbell is a grade A cock, and shouldn't be on TV.

1) Campbell used to be good, and...
2) err, so did Winston.

Two has-beens in a slugfest.:baby:

Aside from that, Winston would deny anything that didn't suit him, even if it were witnessed by a million people, captured on TV and was something he had admitted to it in a signed affadavit.

How the guy still has any political credibility is completely beyond me.

Campbell used to be good then he started to believing his own rhetoric.

Don't watch him now.

Campbell is an A-grade knobend of the highest order. Listening to him is like sitting on the mat as a 5 year old while teacher reads a fairy story.
John Pilger he certainly aint...

Not quite as ridiculous as the government's Foreign Minister voting against the FTD with China...

Campbell is like DB.
I used to like it when I was younger but I outgrew it and find it too sweet now.

That interview was a total cringe - Campbell lost control and direction

Peters was always going to be a handful, and Campbell should have been prepared - when is free to air TV in this country going to get a decent interviewer....

+1

But you really shouldn't compare the two IMHO.

John Pilger made Kim Hill lose her rag and throw his book across the desk.
That was a good interview.

Perhaps that is why he has a lot to say that means nothing! John.

The reason that I enjoyed it was because they were both stripped bare. The way the conversation went, it was obvious it was way off the course of what was planned for discussion, and it meant that we got honest dialogue!

I dont think I agree with Campbell though. The Foreign Minister does not have to hug everyone else in the world because they are foreign. He can have objections. Of course, their is a reason for the saying "you can whatever you want, it is how you say it that matters".

Campbell's a drama writing monkey, and Peters is just a monkey.

They are both attention seeking show ponies, each as much of a whore as the other. John Campbell is just another incarnation of that horrible, stuttering imbecile Paul Holmes. The fact that he was lauded as one of New Zealand television's leading personalities just goes to show how far up they are up each others arses. Most of our news and current affairs shows are at best sensationalist tabloid quality.

Ooh, I think I need a nice cuppa to calm down.

That was a good interview.

OMG, Kim Hill interviewed John Pilger?

:buggerd:

I must see it.

On the thread's original subject, Peters totally pwned Campbell, no question about it.

Problem is, Peters is a complete cunt who flat out stonewalls any direction he doesn't want to go in, so an interviewer gets to choose between getting the learn, like Campbell did, or getting nothing but an exhibition of "shut up", "no you", "no you", ad nauseam.

I have no idea why people keep voting Peters' party into Parliament. The man is a twerp.

I remember the interview - seems Kim Hill hadn't prepared properly and was umming and aahing, to the disdain of Pilger who questioned her professionalism.
He didn't like the retort from Hill and promptly let off a scathing and unrecoverable salvo (for Hill) before departing, exit stage right.
It was beautiful, and a reminder to all the 'Qantas Media Award' winners that the bar is so much higher in other countries.

That's like saying don't criticise being served mouldy bread for dinner because it could be worse you could be served a hairy pool-ball or a smelly dog turd.

Well with Winny and his party nowhere close to the party threshold of 5%,he has to win Tauranga to stay in parliament, anyone need help realising an erection is here this year.

Mind you he does tell it like it is,at least in his own little world, doesn't always tow the party line/coalition line like others Hels roped in last erection.

I'm no fan of either of them but from what I saw of it it looked like Winston was playing Campbell like he was a puppet.

Mmmm. Yup good point.

JC used to be good, when he was proving himself, viz the Clark interview, etc. However, he has not been half as good for many, many years now.

Time for new blood.

What an awesome interview. This is a classic example of how Peters is really the intellect and Campbell is on a level below (well below).

Peters also mentioned a good point on the Radio. What sort of FTA deal comes with an inbuilt immigration policy? (Only one that NZ would sign!)

Bloody hell...thanks for that.
That is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
What a great start to the day!

The moment JC started reacting to WP's goading he was lost and could never bring it back.
WP was having a great time...against all the odds I've got a new respect for him.
He's got my vote, as long as he promises to appear on more interviews.

We're missing the point... it's not about how good or bad either of them are.
It's about ratings and what makes "good" television for TV3.

I just found it all amusing to watch, and like me at least they both laughed at the end.

.... and like me at least they both laughed at the end.

I think that WP's laugh was a bit more genuine though...he was having a great time and realises what these interviews are really about, entertainment.

JC of course earnestly believes that his show contributes to the sum total of human knowledge and is playing it's part in the perpetuation of the New Zealand democratic institution.

In actual fact it's something to doze in front of while your meat and three veg digest.

Because he is.

Glad you didn't say meat and two veg or we'd wonder what you get up to in front of the telly at that time of the evening...especially after Toni Marsh has just been on!!
