They do look good, is that the first of them or the new 08 model? The lower seat height on the 08's might make them a real good adv bike for shorter riders.
Cheers

Looks like they are 'keeping it simple'. Good stuff. What sort of $ is it going for?

I've been paying more attention to this model Beemer, than any previous.
The front forks have little adjustment, not necessarily a bad thing though.
Nice to see a normal shock at the back instead of the air dampner on the Xchallenge. The seat is lower, wider, and feels quite comfy. (sat on the one at Ham m/cycles).
Price is about $2.5k cheaper than the X, but the fuel tank is still small at about 12l I think.
Overall it looks pretty good.
I think they are going for around the $14k mark. Don't quote me on that though.
Official name is "X Country" as opposed to "X Challenge".

16K I 'think'
I again 'think' it's the original model.
Low seats are fer pussys!
I'm not doing the test - just got it for a few days. And loving it.

Shit that's good looking. Don't mean to be rude, but the big adventure bikes often look a little clumsy with all the plastic and screens and square headlights. Built for a purpose, though, of course. This on the other hand looks simple and lean. Lovely!

Exactly. Some of us like to encourage a bit of pussy along on our adventure rides ;)
The old F650 could be set up with a low seat, but they were quite wide & way too heavy for a lot of smaller people to handle off road.
I think I saw one advertised for 15K in the last KR.

I liked it.
They seem to have sorted out the FI/Chip (finally).
Finally a BMW that feels smaller than it actually is (instead of the other way around). I did think it oversteered a bit at 50-70km/h (maybe the tyre or suspesion set up).
Retail Price $14,500ish. Still expensive for what it is.

Nice.
If they weren't so stupidly priced I'd have one of those.
Still, I'm being reunited with the press one at the CCA. See me for a ride...

Lucky bugger:argue:I asked Brett about the GPS unit,he told me that a few weeks before he bought the bike a couple of Aborigines broke down in a 4wd in the middle of nowhere and died,he figured if they couldnt find there way to water then what chance he would lol so hence the GPS.To finance the KTM he parted with a beautiful much modded SP2 Honda,he seems to be enjoying the KTM,it needs to be filthy as it looks kind of strange all clean and shiney.:2thumbsup

That 950 is an evil bike.
Anyone who rides it is breaking the law within minutes...wheelies, stoppies, knobblie burnouts...you name it.

It's similar to the seat on the F650GS.
It's done to reduce the seat height and it works well, however it can make life awkward off road (as you can't slide back) If the F650GS is anything to go by it will be a pain after about 150 kms.

Thatcher would do well to be as responsive to market trends.
Triumph exited the large dual sport market just as it's gaining share.
