As my good lady has bought a Mini for Driving tuition we are left with a Ford Fusion 2, went to a local garage today where they have a 1998 Mitsubishi FTO that I can trade the Fusion against.. (Do you guys have the FTO?)
Anyone got or had a FTO..???
cheers, Juan

Yeh they have the FTO over here. If you're going to get one, dont bother with any other than the GPX version (plenty more power than the others).

And as a side note. I turned down a drive in an Evo 8 yesterday. *sniff*.

It's a V6 in silver, drives nice, however i'm not a performance car freak so really don't know what i'm doing :)
Think I might like it on a track day tho ;)
Will take my good lady to garage tomorrow for a play, sorry test drive ;) and go from there.... I drove it today and felt it was a good car, but then again I have a 214 Rover  I like it tho

Is there anyone over there who do pre-purchasing checkovers of vehicles, like the AA do down here? Or perhaps a friendly mechanic you trust could look it over, and or a panelbeater?
Good luck with the purchase. :)

FTO = Female Touring Option....
A definate girls car. CK's missus has one (calling CK )and it seems to do ok but it will have nothing on some of the other jap cars in the same price range.

yeah.. heck, ours still even has the 'I Love dressage' number plate border on it!! I feel like a right nonce driving that when she's not with me! (I've made her promise to get rid of it when we get a new cage - impending!)
At the risk of incurring Spankme's wrath (incase you weren't aware, he HATES cars) here's my thoughts on the missus' daily driver
1) with good tyres (we'vbe got Bravura AAA rated ones) it'll corner nicely... little bit of over steer but generally impressive grip and stability.
2) ours is a 4 cyl 1.8. average power really. OK but not great. Hard to believe the insurance companies call it a 'high performance car' to be honest
3) manual gears (hairdresserish maybe, but at least its got a proper gearbox!) but the 1st gear is too short .. especially coming off a bike geared for 100 in 1st with 5 close ratios after it! Wouldn't even entertain the tiptronic idea.
4) small.. with the worst sideeffect being HUGE blindspots that you can't even full overcome by craning your neck (dirty fat rear pillar + bucketseats = no vision!)
overall 6.5/10

ok, enough cage talk(of course GTO's are faster than an FTO! :whocares: ). We've all seen the video of the Supra VS Hayabusas so lets just cut the bollocks about 'performance cars' :moon: and get back to some good old fashioned two wheel (or one!) bias discussions :niceone:
Someone close this thread please!

The FTO 1800 uses a slightly warmed over 1800 motor and lower rated suspension
The 2.0l V6 is a heap better proposition but have a good listen for tapping noises in the motor. If ya hear a steady tapping noise don't believe the dealer that its just noisy lifters. Its blooody expensive to fix.
As coldkiwi said They need decent rubber and skimping there is a very bad idea.
Don't be afraid of a tiptronic box --they actually seem to work well in the fto
IF I was buying a FTO the only one I'd buy would be the FTO GPX mivec.
On a B road they are a heap of fun to drive.
