"Bullshit says Goff" (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/feature/story.cfm?c_id=1501819&objectid=10503174)

Looks like Goff has had enough of all the press Cunliffe's been getting recently and has decided he needs some headlines to boost his profile, if he's going to have a show of being Labour leader after the election...

My eldest daughter is in the seventh form at high school. At the moment they are doing a discussion on politics and I was horrified to hear from her that her teacher quoted Helen Clark as being a ''great leader'' Just another indication of many that the education system is full of unreformable lefties.

I suppose it depends on your definition - she's great if it includes an ability to avoid having shit stick to you and to remain at the top for a long time.

Personally my definition of a grat leader requires that they actually drive you somewhere better rather than just occupying the drivers seat for a long time, in which case: FAIL.

I think that's Labours only chance of winning. The feeling I get is that most oppose Clarke on a 'personal' basis and not on policy. Secondly I think Labour needs a new face. Goff could more than match Key on 'all' fronts. Correct me if I'm wrong but Goff does not carry any baggage from the Rodgenomics era.

The smart move would be for Goff as Leader and Anderton as his deputy. Anderton has a proven track record on electioneering and could be an asset to Labours poor popularity. His loyalty and age should not be of any concern to the younger Labour MP's and his higher profile would increase the popularity of the Progressives where they may add an additional member for any future coalition between Labour and the Progressives. It may well l prove to be the foundation move for a reliable partner for Labour in the future. Will it happen?? I doubt it. Too many egos' would be bruised. But it 'is' the move to make.

Did you notice how well she blended in with the Chinese military?

As a child I constantly heard of the "yellow peril" then it all just died away.

Clark has revived it all in less than a decade.

I must start learning Mandarin, it will be the real official language of NZ soon.

New Zealanders exit via the Western countries only to be replaced by our friends from China courtesy of the lefty Labour government.

It's not looking too good for us in my opinion. John.

What is it about people that makes them vote in socialists, even though every socialist govt that's ever been has failed, bringing poverty (and worse) as they do so? Maybe, deep down, people just don't want good livings standards, food, etc :crybaby:

Saw an article that summed up some stuff quite well - while the guy is talking about the socialist party in Germany, you could pretty much swap it to describe our own beloved Helen's regime:

The SPD is to Germany as the Liberals to Canada: the party to manage national decline. The long-term success of each has depended on turning "voters" gradually into "clients". From the humblest welfare recipients, up to big businessmen whose fortunes depend on sweetheart regulatory arrangements, each party pitches itself, as crassly as necessary, to the beneficiaries of state largesse. Their supporters therefore become quite inured to massive corruption, and revelations of ineptitude -- and remain so, as long as they are guaranteed preferred access to the government trough.

The intention of such governments is not to run the economy into the ground, nor even to destroy the moral order through experiments in social engineering. That is simply the natural consequence of their way of doing business. A Social Democrat or Liberal government will do whatever appears immediately necessary to defend its tax base; and since full socialism has been repeatedly shown to lead directly to economic collapse, a kind of "guided capitalism" is favoured. The long-term economic decline becomes a by-product of a political outlook that mechanically ranks national interests below party interests.

I'm pretty impressed with Rudd. He speaks Mandarin. He also speaks another language that our polies have forgotton. It's called Your Mind-arin. :dodge:

PS The only thing I've seen Clarke wearing in China is the bloody awful black and white jacket. Jacket aside I am not very impressed with her at the moment.

Sod politics - Helen is grossly arrogant and Key & cronies have a "back to the 90's" air about them.
I'm voting for the Maori party!

Anyway, this is much more interesting

I have just had official comformation from a widly respected teacher [respected amoung her drinking buddies at least] that there are alot of lefties that are teachers...

That is a rather scary thought...teachers get a chance to scar the minds of our youth before they get a change to think for themselves!!

This isn't news
Everyone in the Labour party is either a union activist or some kind of teacher.
