Gidday - couldn't find any threads on this but:
Just checking if anyone has had experience / issues with the exhaust tuning valve (SET - Suzuki Exhaust Tuning I believe) found on the K6 / K7 600 and 750 bikes.
My Problem:
Basically the motor that controls the valve on my bike crapped itself making a
clunk clunk noise when the key was turned.
I took it into Suzuki (holeshot) - after they checked it out I was given the option of:
1. Forking around $550 for a new motor.
2. Disconnecting wire #56 from the computer.
So I chose option 2 for the time being - and they've disconnected that wire.
Now apparently what that does is stop the ECM from trying to control the valve when the bike is started - however the motor will still try to do a full open / close check when the key is turned to on.
It WAS supposed to also stop the FI light from being on all the time.
Yesterday the light came on again - I check underneath the bike and the exhaust valve had closed.
I removed the tailsection, disconnected the cables allowing the motor to freewheel.
The FI light stayed on.
After doing some research found this article:
http://www.tfriders.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=71
This suggests disconnecting wire #30 - so I did -bingo motor stopped doing the check and FI light went out.
Have I removed the correct wire?
Also is it worth getting a new motor?
Thanks
