Are any KB'ers going. My normal riding mates are doing the rodney club day here: April Club Day - New property! @ 3558 Kaipara Coast Highway (Highway 16). Just before the Hoteo bridge 26 k's north of Kaukapakapa.
If I go south instead of north I'll be on my own and I haven't done this ride yet. Must be Mercer we turn off at I imagine.
Not sure if I am but is there Anyone else going??

turn off at pokeno, and head towards tuakau, do not turn into tuakau but continue on towards the river, you will pick up sings at the tuakau bridge,
track is pretty cool up tier, rolling to steep country, approx 30km open loop

12th April 2008, 11:42
yeah i did, was going really well, had 3rd in the last race and would have given me about 5th overall in the Auckland Saloon champs which (would have been awesome for my first time thier), but got turned around, and then someone that got caught up with me went all phsyco and threw his steering wheel at me, i thought i was the inncoent party in it all,
was a bit different to drive thier but i really enjoyed it,
Kihikihi has clashed with trail rides or mx all year, i was hoping to race thier at least once this season but i have not been able to, thier is always next season

Scott, Thats one thing it would be most helpful to have on your website a few directions to the events. Cheers mate.
Will it get really boggy if its wet. I might go where I can ride with someone if the bike gets stuck in a bog.
So no one confirmed yet. Oh well I might go North. Pissing down here and not a good prediction for tommorrow either.

Reckless, funny you say that, was talking to people about it during the week
i have looked into that after a few comments this year, i have looked at having mini maps on thier but i can not really find any good ones that show the rural areas well, , i will be looking at instructions on how to get to each one there for next year, thanks for advice,
ill do some for this weekend,
From Auckland,
Take the pokeno off ramp,
turn right at round about,
take 2nd road on right, (Whangarata Road)
Follow to the end of the road (approx 5km)
turn right at end of road (SH22)
this will take you to the Tuakau Bridge, signs will start from here,
take 2nd road on right (onewhero bridge road) and keep following signs, will take approx 20minutes from bridge
From SOuth
take mercer motorway off ramp,
turn tight and take bridge across river (sings will start here)
will take approx 25minutes from here,

My mob haven't been riding for about 6 weeks until last week we all went on the Puriri ride near Thames. That was pretty awesome dry/fast but fanatastic views and a few river crossings plus a 2km junior loop which was excellent. Unfortunately Scott looks like we will be giving the Mr motorcycles ride a miss as they all want to go to the Ngtaea ride tomorrow. Catch up with all you KBers sometime soon.
Ps. went to the interschools at ardmore this arvo - pretty good spectacle and free ! kids loved watching- they all want to get back into it now!!!

That was a good ride, a mix of farm tracks, steepish hills, a couple of damp spots and lost of dust. My rain dance for a light rain overnight obviously didn't work. The breeze was good tho, kept the dust from hanging around and appart from when these fast bastards blitzed past me (seemed to happen regularly) visiblity was great.
Can't say as I noticed the views to be honest, I'm sure they were stunning, but I was a bit preoccupied with hiding from the power band on the bike. I'm pleased to announce I can now wheelie, however I have absolutely no control over the timing of it or the resultant "landing". Remind me that giving it a handful to get up a hill is not a good idea.
Actually, the dumbest move I made was not even my fault. Again, I was showing off my hill climbing ability, forward on the pegs etc, when the camelback hose got hooked under the throttle cable and as I leaned back carefully steered me off the track. :Oi:
I love those big prickly bushy things. :pinch:
So thanks to Scott and everyone that made it happen, great venue and an even better ride.

Yeah I loved it.
Bad luck with the camel back though!
I have a few people of thank.
- stranger who helped me fish my bike out of a wet ditch thing that I didn't avoid. Stupid me, target fixation or something.
- stranger who gave me a chocolate bar and asked me about tyre pressure. I was on my second lap, no doubt they had already done 3-4 and were feeling generous :) cheers!
- stranger who found my goggles and caught up with me (not hard) and gave them back. Legend! :apint:
Definitely met some great people who had no qualms about lending me a hand.
Did a couple of laps. Managed to smack my left knee about three times, all in exactly the same place, very swollen now, but not too sore. Time for some sort of knee protection I think.
About 5mins after leaving we saw an ambulance heading to the car park, fingers crossed no one was badly hurt!
Also saw and heard of a bike that had a bit of a bath. Saw it sitting upside down in the car park. Doh!

thanks for all those wo turned up, to this one and the rest in teh series, we averaged just under 500 riders per round, and all the comunities are happy with the money rasied,
also to the guys that helped with a fairly serious injury on the last lap, and also to the Waikato Recue Helicopter crew that got out there pretty quick,
we will be back again next year, with some slight changes being planned with the way the days run, any suggestions pm me or post in here,
1st ride will be Glen Murray in late november,

is a mud run, through winter out of the question?

is a mud run, through winter out of the question?
in this area yes, because we use mostly farmland a winter ride would cause a lot of damage, and as the farmers all give up thier land for free, its a bit tuff on them to do some, Winter is a great place for sand or pumice based riding, ie Woodhill, and the central north island,
also we like a bit of a break, ;)

Yeh was a good ride part form mate who had the helicopter ride thanks heap scott and rest of the guy and med team that helped out will advise on how he is latter.
Had a good laugh came round corner on last last pre mate fall and thiers looks like two guys doin a brokeback mountain swiming scene turns out he lost it on corner and when i stopped there was just visable under the water a set of bars water was kind deep. Im sure it wasnt funny for the dude that owns the bike but there was quite a few jokes being thrown around and i think he saw the funny side in the end wasnt to upset.
other wise was a good ride be there again next year.

Just heard Ian broke a virtabra although theyare saying he should be in hospital to long. Kinda explains why he was in so much pain yesterday.

Self and a couple of mates were there yesterday and enjoyed the ride but missed some bits of last years course, eg along top of steep ridge section that was quite spectacular with gullies dropping away both sides. Big Thanks to MR Motorcycle boys and land owners etc. Commented to mate during ride - betcha someone will take a dip in one of those dams! Saw someone taking photos at a spot with a few nice little jumps does anyone know where the photos are?
I hope your mate will be OK Barty. I busted my back at the superbowl (Woodhill) in '02 - mega pain, chopper ride to hospital etc. Finally had MRI last year showing all the damage. Not a pretty picture. Suggest your mate gets into swimming pool etc. as soon as able. However the injury is going to heal can effect rest of life - important to get best result possible. Keep us posted.
