Gidday,
I sure would be keen to join in at levels, do I need to contact the Canterbury MCC to book a spot or is it just turn up?

Usually just rock on up....make sure you get there early though as they will turn you away as they want everyone signed in & bike scrutinsed by about 8.30.
Might go myself as the last one @ Ruapuna was a washout....I learnt then that riding in the rain at a track day is the same as riding in the rain on the road...stink!!

Levels is an awesome track: anyone who can get there, SHOULD go!
You guys will love it. And if the weather is a bit iffy, make plans to go anyway as it can often be quite different there to Timaru.
The forecast last saturday was for rain/hail etc but at the track it was fine with a cool breeze, perfect conditions for racing.

BEST track in the country I think, it really makes you think. The real fast lines, are not the obvious lines you see at first ( From an x racers point of view)

actually from your point of view, how do you take that corner onto the main straight? I just cant get it right... I think the left-hander before it buggers me up all the time

luv too one day matey!
But it could get kinda expensive if I have to hire the track out as well? You'll just have to pop down next time we race out there... which could be awhile cos they only get the track a couple of times a year. I'd really like to have a bucket meet there, now that would be damn fun! (no flippin S/S to get in the way).

Pop down, A wee bit exspensive for me to do that, to just give my time away to the track day riders sorry to say. A big part of my living these days, is advice to and for riders, suspension set up, line choice etc at tracks
Maybe you could plan an instruction day, for some time in the future, and I could work with you on it.

There's a camping ground at Temuka 10-15 minutes from the track that has cabins

Yeah that seems reasonable, might stay there & it seems straight fwd to get to levels from there....
It'll also save Bren from having to show me how to get there as well...though Id appreciate maybe getting shown the quick way round the track
Good on Sportzone Suzuki for sponsorship,it'll be the 4th one of thiers I go to:niceone:

Quick way around the track? you better get someone other than Bren to show you, we don't use a stopwatch to time him, we use a calendar

state highway ONE (ya know were that is aye?) When in temuka ya slow for a tight right, left, carry on in reduced speed zone over medium to largeish bridge after the bridge is a pub on the left turn right there 100 yards turn left, boot it for a few k's airport on left next intersection on right, follow levels motor park sinage... something like that anyway.

Well the weather is looking promising, might get away with it before the front comes thru in the evening...
Going to be a good weekend I reckon, hopefully it will be a tad more satisfying than the unfortuanate washout @ Ruapuna in March, what with a round trip for me of over a 1000km....aaah the things we do for love...;)

Wow that was an awesome day!! We (those who took the punt on the weather) were rewarded with a slightly chilly but dry & generally sunny day.
Because of the slightly dodgy weather forecast possibly putting folk off attending, those of us lucky to make it were treated to a low key, laid back & uncluttered day off blasting round as fast as we dared:woohoo:
Thanks to the folk from Sportzone Suzuki (Josef) & the volunteers from MC Canturbury for doing the hard yards & being helpful & running a great day.
We also had the bonus of having Dennis Charlett there for advice as well as doing rider training sessions free of charge !!! Very well done you lot !!
Because of the lower than expected numbers ,they early on decided to combine some classes....fast B riders would ride with the A's, & slower B's would combine with the C's, which seemed to work out really well I thought.Bonus was that as a B rider I could ride in both, so effectively doubling track time with only a 15 minute break between sessions of 15 mins...:woohoo::niceone: I found it really interesting to get in amongst the racers who just cut bold swathes thru us "roadies",but I was able to hang with some of them some of the time & learn a few things, main one being that I aint that fast!! Hope we didnt fuck up to many corners for you
guys:doh::laugh:
I loved the Levels track. The Castrol curve,John Jones cnr & Mckissock curves are lovely fast curves & the Glibert esses & the esses of the long course on to the front straight are quite the challenge @ speed. As a first timer there I really enjoyed it & only made a few blues...coming outta Castrol too wide & runnin' along the grass at 160 odd was interesting ,as well as hittihg a false neutral into John jones cnr...oh & blowing the esses & having to go straight thru.
Met heaps of good folk, especially Paul & young Jesse on thier R6 & 636 ,nice recovery of the day was definitely Jesse's almost highside outta the gilbert esses:2thumbsup. Think for the day there was only about 2 minor offs all up:niceone:
Good on everyone who made it ,I think we'd all agree it was a great day:apint::doobey:

Thanks for the directions & the tip on the temuka Holiday park:niceone:
