Hey all. Public Service Announcement time.
As I was in Upper Hutt doing shopping this afternoon, I checked out the VT250 Spada for sale in the window of Gethings Motors, the local Mitsubishi car dealer.
It turns out its the sales manager's personal bike that he's flicking off.
Its done 38,000 kms, and was first rego'd in NZ in 1995.
I had a good look over the bike, and nothing really stands out as a big problem.
It's shod with pretty good condition Bridgestone BT45's front and rear, the exhaust is original and shows no signs of being rotted. The steering head feels pretty good - a slight bit of roughness but nothing to suggest problems - it probably just needs a bit of a grease (being pretty bloody picky here). There are no nasty oil leaks and the seat feels good.
The front disc has plenty of meat left on it and the bodywork is pretty new looking - it doesn't look like its been dropped. The only blemish in the bodywork is in the surround for the back light - there's a bit about .5 inch by .25 inch (at the maximum) broken out of the surround - hardly noticeable though. The back disc seems to work fine.
The bike has a rego plate on it (79UYC) but there is no registration details on the bike, and I couldn't find a warrant.
The shop say that although it's on their premises, its not actually for sale by them, and to deal with the sales manager as its a personal sale - just happens to be parked there.
However, it looks to be reasonably tidy and not too bad a buy at $2495 if it comes with a rego and wof.
The owner can be contacted after hours (I didn't get to talk personally to him as he was trying to sell a couple a pickup truck) - Steve Holloway 5268222.
