yeah, what the title says...

I decided I like the staple learner's friend.. lol the "everybody has one" bike. I don't care that everyone has one and all that stuff. I like the bike. anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of any reasonably priced (probably second hand) ones in the Auckland area that I can have a look at??

I've almost got 1000 saved, and am basically at the halfway point of my goal, so i'm looking around. please PM me if anyone knows of any.

Thanks
AJ

My advice? Go for a 250 if you can, the 125 just doesn't quite cut it on the open road. Don't know that there are many reasonably priced ones due to their popularity and the rising fuel costs but if $1000 is half of your budget I expect you could find a really nice one. And don't worry about all that "everyones got one, they're slow, blah blah" rubbish. I've had some great fun riding GN's, and i'd actually like to get one to commute to work on. So there!

cheers! thanks for the encouragement! i've actually seen some decent ones as of late though. so i'm keeping those in mind!...

btw, i'm going to probably do my L plate test on friday, went and got some practice q's today and have been reading up on the road code online, got all the practice sheets for all possible combinations of specialist q's and 3 sheets of general. that should ensure i've got it all down pat! weeeeee AJ's finally getting somewhere and that darn Indy isn't here to rejoice with me (and let me use his bike *cough*)

EDIT: AJ's decided monday as the date, just because dad's been dragging her to the shops for food and the like which has been interrupting my road code absorbing.

Buy a scorpio!

i'm aiming a little lower in price at the moment. it's taking me way too long to save otherwise heh.

Have a look at the EN125. Mechanically the same bike but a more"normal" riding position -Jorja sold her 2005 with 5500 on the clock for about $1800

As has already been mentioned I would forget the GN125, it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Stick with a GN250 or Yamaha SR250 etc

true... but i'm going by the saying "slow and steady wins the race" right now.. i'm not really one to be just starting off and wanting to zoom off at any great guts... if you get my meaning. though it has been mentioned to me that it could make it harder to get out of a tight spot...

ultimately i am taking all the comments into consideration, but the final decision will be made on a pro's for me vs a con's for me (as opposed to what others see as pro's and con's ya know?)

I appreciate the feedback though, keep it up! i want to make a decision in at most, the next three days.

Couldn't agree more!

As mentioned via PM, IMO the GN250 is the way to go for the reasons I gave.

Yep, I had a GN250 as my first bike and it definately wasnt the speed of the bike that caused me to kill it that's for sure. I couldve done the same on a smaller bike. A GN250 is a GREAT learner as it will only build up to 100 with effort. It'll help you learn all about riding and last you through your more "confident learner" phase without being way to slow....

true... though i can't seem to find many decent ones in my price range in auckland... DOH!

as for zooming, well that was probably the wrong word to use, so you got the wrong meaning.. but it's hard to think of the right word so i won't try lol.

(as everyone who knows me will tell you, words come out of my mouth before my brain knows what they are... substitute mouth for fingers in the case of KB, and there you go lol)
