Well what an awsome day. Arrived back home around 1900 after leaving for taupo at 0600. Meet up with DSS, saslex, quasievil, v twin raver and a few other kbers (sorry forgot your names :o ) at kihikihi and went onto taupo from there.

Motoracer, two smoker, frosty and a few other kbers were racing there. Saw some good racing, everyone was going pretty well. I'll leave it to them to comment on the days events.

Here are some pics for everyone to gawk at.

From left to right:
1.) & 2.) Saslex on his vfr at the lunch time track session
3.) & 4.) Quasi on his 636 in the same session
5.) & 6.) Motoracer (#15) in his first and second race of the day (i think)

3.) Frosty on mella yella
4.) & 5.) Motoracer again, think in 2nd and 3rd race (can't remember)

I had a mixed day, have plenty too learn and improve in times, was running consistently in the top half of the field, and was constantly getting held up by BLOODY RETARDS, eeeerrrr i mean.... MOTARDS!!!!!!!!!

First practice was abismal, doing 50 second laps (the long sweeper is very technical and i was fucking my gear changes, and also having too scrub in a rear tyre)..... Second practice i was feeling good, and started to get a feel for the track, but within very little time the practice was over.....

Race one: I got an awesome start and was in the top 8 or so, but turn one got very tight and motards and 125GP bikes started zipping everywhere.... I started to have a good go at the track and was trusting my rear tyre alot more, i ended up having a few battles, both losing and gaining places.....Into the last corner on the last lap Craig (Slim's man) tried coming around the outside, i was a bit of a cheeky bugger and held him off for 14th place out of 35 odd.... got back to the pits and was stoked to find out i was running low 48's and a high 47....

Race two: got a bit of a shocker of a start, and was in the middle pack.... Then i got stuck behind a motard and spent 2 laps getting past him (they take very weird lines) finally started to make some pace and then the race was over, was gutted because at the last corner 2 motards got past me..... I ended up in 16th... Got back to the pits to find out i was doing 50 second laps, and then when i had passed the motard, i got straight into mid 47 second laps....

Race three: got and absolute mint start and was in the top eight.... racing was good, i was feeling good, and i was keeping up with the pack.... came back onto the front straight to find a red flag.... Curious George had a bit of a tangle in turn one at the start and ended up in the wall (hope your ok mate) and with that went my claim too fame :p .... Restart and i didnt get off as well. Keith Brock and a guy in a ZXR400 had a good shoulder barge match and that sent Keith wide, letting me through..... had a good race and was doing low 47's....

MR and i swapped bikes for another have ago session, had some fun lifting the front wheel and second gear when exiting the hairpin and hitting the bump after turn one... was getting quite fast (but not on its limits) on it and i guesstimate that i was doing around 45's......

My times werent that impressive, but i had a shitload of fun, and was finally able to dice with some bikes....

KB rider of the day is MR in F2 and That Guy in F3 (geez you were both bloody flying out there)

Great too meet some new people :niceone: Big thanks to Bret and Paula (Dr. and Mrs Evil) and definately Sudeep for taking me and my bike down to taupo, cheers man that was awesome.... also sAslex and Scroter for helping me out in th pits....

Sadly scroter had quite a large crash in one of the have a go sessions, and was carted away to Taupo Hospital with a damaged AC joint.... Hope your ok mate :niceone:

LOGAN YOU SHOULD HAVE BLOODY COME!!!!!!!! racing was awesome.... Mitch didnt turn up..... I also needed you to have a dice with and show me how to do 45's lol....

MR and i had some fun in the race van, pics will be posted later :shifty:

Everyone please post up more pics :niceone:

Cheers.....

Take care all.

Hey guys - was good to see you there at the race yesterday.

My second ever road race was pretty pleasing actually - I feel like I'm getting faster, although I also feel like a big off is coming - as I get cockier I'm getting more moments!

Man the wind was cold and a bit of a drain on energy throughout the day but mostly I didn't notice it while racing. Thankfully the track was dry all day despite a couple of spits of rain (or was that someone's radiator letting go?).

Race 1 - got onto the front row for the start so thoughts I'd give it a good go for the holeshot. What a naieve git. Got completly smoked off the line (especially by those damn motards!) as 35 odd riders in F3 charged into the left hander. Fortunately people we being quite cautious into the first turn so I rode round the outside of a few and got to the hairpin in about 6th. I slipped back to about 8th - and then as per usual got smoked by a 125 (Leonie - she is a wicked 125 rider - no excuse girls she can do it!) showing me how to corner properly. Tried to chase her but made a dumb mistake - the RGV has a race shift pattern - I muffed 1st - 2nd gear coming out of the hair pin and got neutral. Got it in to 2nd but was flsutered and into the next right hander I thought I had a road shift and changed into 1st not 3rd. Big back end slide and onto the white line. No idea why I didn't bin it but I was lucky as. Anyway there was no cathcing Leonie after that - 9th.

Race 2 - Pretty uneventful - got a reasonable start from the 2nd row - had fun getting Two Smoker (he he Chris!) around the outside of the last of the esses - althought TS learnt from that one and got his line sorted after that - and pretty much circulated the rest of the race without incident but unable to catch the SV650 in front. 12th.

Race 3 - Started from the 3rd row this time and stuffed my start up again! (you'd think an ex-motocrosser would be better at this starting caper). Was probably about 16th or so - I could see TS up ahead so started to settle in to try and catch him. Came round again lap two and Curious George and binned it quite badly (trying to catch me as it happens... :shifty: ) and the race was red flagged. (George is ok, pride a bit damaged.) Re-start and again a poor start, but thankfully again everyone over braked for the first turn. I must have ridden around 5 riders on the outside of them. Into the hairpin and holy crap I'm 3rd! I start thinking I should be further down and should get out of the way of the faster riders - I'm following Jason Hulme who is so far the points leader - and I don't have a hope (yet ;) ) of keeping in touch. He is flying. As each lap goes by he gets further and further away and I get nalied every now and then on the straight and into the hairpin. I want the flag to fall now 'cause I know I'm going to get passed by more - and finally it does. The results had me finishing 5th but I thought I got passed by more riders than that :pinch: ...anyway a good day and pretty stoked to be improving.

Thanks Chris and others for the kind words of encouragement - you may be under-estimating how much my motocross years are helping me. Anyways I'm enjoyying it heaps - Taupo's a perfect track for an RGV....

See you next race (March?)

Pics to come too..

Race Dates for rest of Victoria Club Series at Taupo:

28 December
3 April
5 May

We won't be at the December one, since Craig's entered to race at Wanganui :shit: but hopefully see you April and/or May.

KY - Mitch is a lazy tart and couldn't make it, mumbling some really terrible excuse about her bike still being in road kit?!?!? :spudwhat: :msn-wink: Gary wasn't there either - possibly because his wife's still ill? I'm not sure.

Craig did really well. He was racing Formula 1/2 (26 on the track) and Formula 3 (35 on the track). The only results I saw were an 11th in F1/F2 and a 15th in F3 for the first races. He was down into high 46s laps in the 2nd F1/F2 race, but things must have been busy out there because he was back up to 48s & 49s laps in the 2nd F3 race.

Scroter - I have the details for where your bike's at in Rotorua & I may be able to pick it up & drop it off to you on Wednesday, if it's convenient with the guy that's got it. I've PM'd you, so get back to me ASAP.

Thanks K14
I got a few piccies that I will put up tonight.
Good to see a bunch of KBrs there heaps of us and it was a great day.
Got a bit sunburnt though, should of had a hat instead of a nude nut.

Big SHOUT to MR and TS for a excellent racing day must haqve been the breakky!!!, the improvements were there race by race,
Good to see XJ out there as well, ya buggar flying past me I thought I was fast until that point !!!!

pity I missed the last two but the boys needed to get going.

Good to see Linda Blair Hamish Celtic and Jazzbug 6Chris6,XJ and Family,
Saslex, k14,Gixxerboy, Scroter hope your okay fella, Who have I forgoten ?

As far as my little blat went, it was great, Taupo is obviously a very technical track had a bit of trouble getting the lines right through the sweeper and of the back straight but thanks to a CBR1000 dude racer guy he kindly pulled in front waved at me and taught me the lines GREAT, pity it was on the 2nd last lap, but I will carry that knowledge on to next time.
The ZXR was great handled really well, I stiffened up the front suspension alot which made a big difference felt really solid on the track.

Would like to do a few more track days to try and get a bit quicker I think I was doing 50-53 times which I guess is okay.

Good day anyway post later

Yep, I couldn't see for the red mist I guess :o
Possibly something funny with the bike too, but not sure yet.
I'll get ya next time Guy!! :ar15:
Frosty was his usuall kind self and let me through a couple of gaps he was leaving, so I repayed him by running wide and off the track. (so what if it was practice, it still counts, right? :scooter: )
Hoon, you seemed pretty quiet on the day, didn't see much of you at all, how was it?

Huge thankyou to the guy with two young kids who picked me up with their trailer and brought me back to home base. Much appreciated :first:

Sorry I didn't meed up with some of the other KB'ers, perhaps we can paint frosty's new bus with the KB colours!

Craig said that using those tyre warmers for the day was great. He could get out there & go hard right from the start, instead of taking it easy for a lap or two until his tyres warmed up. Great booster for his confidence. Craig's bike is 48(1) and #3 is Steve Fultons.

I reckon that was excellent being able to take Luke out pillion during the fun ride/open track/whatever-you-call-it. Seems he had a blast too! :D

Neither of them has web names. Craig & I were both wandering around in bright red Ducati jackets (not to be confused with Linda Blair, who also had Ducati sunnies & sweatshirt & g-string & .... ;) ) Craig had mostly white leathers with a red lid on racing F1/F2 and F3 races all day.

Steve Fulton is brother to Dean (Beanie) Fulton who's racing the Nationals this year on a CBR1000. Finished 4th of 5th over the weekend down at Teretonga I believe.

Yeah it was a great day and luckily the weather held off (and the wind too!!). Good to see such a great turnout especially from the KB crowd in F3 and the "have a go" thing. Good to meet for first time Scroter, ajturbo, and Mrs Frosty too!

Wasn't one of my best days and for some reason I just couldn't get my race face on. Might be because I haven't ridden in over 3 wks, most that time was spent fixing and repainting my bike from the various mishaps I've had during the year so I was very conscious about the new paint/tarmac magnetism factor.:) Also a new rear tyre, forks dropped another 5mm and lowered clipons had it feeling like a totally different bike which knocked my confidence. With clear track I managed mid 48's with tonnes of room for improvement on almost every corner however most the day was spent following the bike in front of me unless a gap the size of a bus opened up.

Two Smoker took to it like a duck to water and got into the 47's in his first visit to the track. Sudeep knocked a good 3 secs off from the last time I saw him race here too (did a 43.98 when I timed him). All I saw of That Guy was almost mounting his back wheel with his lousy 2-stroke starts before he pissed off into the distance never to be seen again :) Curious George was flying too - saw him pull a nice overtaking move on the outside of Turn 1 passing about 6 bikes (me included) however that was the lap right before he crashed on the very same corner! Craig and Keith Brock were looking real fast too!

Frosty must've had even worse starts than me because every race he would pass me on the final laps!

Ohh and Mike 21 (won F3 Race 1) is selling his immaculate 70hp ZXR400H for $4800 as he is moving to F1. It does 43s at Taupo and 1.08s at Puke and it comes with WoW's as well.

Haha. So true. gotta get my starts sorted; damn peaky 2 smokes! Every start a motard would wheelie past me while I fumbled about with slipping clutch/rev limiter/bogging/aww feck it. Pity the 125 rider! More practice needed.

short but sweet this time.
I had a bloody good day other than a couple of minor frustrations. --Missed first practice etc.
I was happy with how I went all day, Practice was riding slowly remebering all Id learnt a few weeks ago and watching curious george try a bit of motorcrossing trying to go round the outside of me.
I managed to get down to the low 47's which had me really happy
Race results are stuffed up with me not even showing as starting f2 and ditto classics. I beat george in f3 race 1 yet hes listed as beating me --Poor ol Hoon is down as beeing 3x DNF -yet I know he was sniffing my zorsts in at least two races
It was great to meet a whole bunch of KBers -Mr turbo and his boy as well as TZ Tony -on the grid lol Sorry for smoking ya like that quazi--I needed the practice laps -I missed first practice.
I Hope george and Scroter are both ok after their respective
bins at the two ends of the track.
I definitely need to sort out my starts -Im getting smoked by everybody there.Im also perhaps a little too timid in attacking big crowds of bikes
I had a bloody fantastic day all in all.
A big thanks to 6chris6 for beeing my crew chief and loaning me his bike to take Baby bikie out for a few "quiet " laps. it was fantastic too to see him riding mella yella as his confidence came up and his laps came down.
Shit chris that 600 of yours is sooo nice to ride mate.

I just want to say that the battle of the day from watching at the sidelines was Glen Williams on his ZX-10R and Nick Cole on his ZX-6RR, Nick was right up Glens tail the whole race, then on the second to last lap Nick got past Glen. on the last corner Nick got a good slingshot out of the sweeper. Glen tried to use the ZX-10's power to get him on the striaght, but Nick won by about half a bike length.... Awesome stuff!!!

Yeah I know what you mean. Getting stuck behind motards is a pain in the arse - you can waste two laps getting by 'casue of their wierd lines. You think you're lining them up then they stop dead and cut your nose off. Get by and suddenly you're 2 secs a lap quicker. If there are that many riders turning up I wonder if they shouldn't have been let in to F3? They have their own class anyway.....I wonder what they'd do if we rolled up on the RGV or ZXR into the motard race?

I like motards and am keen as hell to have a go on one.... But i got fucked off how they jumped in F3 even though they had their own class on the day.... Motards do rule :niceone: but they suck when they are in F3....

Yeah I don't have a problem with Motards....except when I have to share the grid with them. F3 and 125GP mixed is bad enough (I feel sorry for the fast 125 riders) but Motards as well is just a joke.
Checking the results there were 12 motards entered in their own class and suprise suprise guess what ..... all 12 were also entered in F3!!!

Still, I'd love to have one!! :2thumbsup

To all those KB'ers that took to the track- excellent work. And to all the supporters, well you guys are just as important. I doff my helmet to you all.

Looking at the result for the day and adding up all the points of the KB'ers (that I could recognise), impressive stuff. Keep up the good work.

Finished 4th of 5th over the weekend down at Teretonga I believe.

yep i remeber you guys...hard not too

What'd he get, and why hasn't he told us?
i didnt do much on the the site yesterday as too much to organise and also 1 finger typing just takes so long back to two hands today so here goes.

i come thru the s's by the pits saw no one so decided to do my normal pace through there. come round the last right hander and there was a bike thet was going significantly slower and i was committed to that line so yanked the brakes and i think i hit him about twice his speed enough to take a chunk out of my wheel. any way sliding along the track and then another bike runs me over he couldnt avoid me either. i ended up in hospital to confirm dislocated AC joint and make sure i had no other injurys. got picked up about 7 and picked the bike up on the way home. well what a mess. front fairing, left clip on, front wheel and tyre, screen, left side fairing, rear cowling, rear solo seal cover, left side engine cover left rear set and peg all rooted. all glass is intact but the headlight is scratched and the mountings are broken. mirrors and indicators are heavily scratced but unbroken. front master cylinder also leaking. im also pretty sure the forks are bent. so in short, toast. its funny how the left side and front of the bike took most of the damage and yet my right shoulder is the one thats hurt but apparently the bike did a full 360. about the only things that are salvagable are the tank(holy shit how did i get away with that) and the exhaust and right side fairing.my riding gear is a bit rooted though although everything seemed to hold together well with the leathers only loosing there stitching in two spots and only about six inches but the leather is worn quite thin in places so repair or throw out.

worse news got a phone call about lunch time yesterday and a mate was killed on his gsxr1000 on sunday as well. seems it was a bad day for bikers on ssunday. thanks for everyones comments/support. big ups go out to the ambo, nurses and doc at taupo hospital. also MR,twosmoke,slim,6chris6,frosty,glen the guy that carted my bike away, and anyone else i cant remember. cheers top blokes and ladys the lot of yous.

Hey folks,

My little 2¢ worth On the Taupo Racing on Sunday.

This would have been my first ever time to races of any kind which is ironic since I just live half an hour away in Turangi. Be that as it may, if you ever get the chance to go to races of any kind... GO!! I loved them. The speed... Yeowwww!! And the noise (note: take ear plugs).
Some people say that it's much safer on the track than on the road but if things turn to custard on the track at such velocity as was displayed that day then your world would turn upside down something chronic.
Judging by the nose shape of the green machines, I recognised three 2004 ZX10's. Man those things are small, faaassst and nimble. Suzukis were doing well too. Shit those Japanese sure can make rockets. They may not launch into space but they're fu&%ing fast all the same.
Good to meet those I did see there, namely Quasi, MR, Lynda Blair and Hamish, Celtic and Jaz. Congratulations on Frosty and MR for racing... impressive brudders! Sorry if I neglected to mention other KB members that I didn't get to introduce myself to and well as the others who raced

All the best for those who contemplate racing next year.

The only ZX10 there on the day was Glen williams', which is the 3rd bike from the left.

I pinched a neat photo of this site - if the photographer would like credit, please email me; press@silver-bullet.co.nz

Plus some of the stories you guys write on your rides would be welcomed @ the same address.

Here's a couple of pics i got at the end of the day from Taupo, when a couple of riders in full gear and helmets got to take the van out on the track.
You can probably guess the culprits :msn-wink:

It was really my fault for saying to one of them that they wouldn't be able to get thier knee down in that
