Because they are all nana'ed.
I would love to hang out with you guys and do the roads in this video.
You are all top dudes etc.
But no offence when i am down your way for my tour of nz...
Is there anybody that can, how do i best put this. Show me these roads in a more sporty paced fashion, awesome roads, i am not talking speeding off the clock, but i see many a good 55 being wasted. that could be taken at a lesuirely 110-120. I'm serious here, when i'm down is there anybody in christchurch that wants to take me for a good tour down these roads, i realise these guys were out for a cruise, mikkel etc good shit, but i need something with a little more.
Hmm... meh meh fooking neow! as it were. Obviously i do not want to push it on roads i don't know but yeah. obviously the open road zones only... ie, evans pass looks like a good place to keep up a good smooth 100kph consistant pace.

You don't deserve CHCH...
You don't deserve a bike infact! (If you are gonna ride like an idiot!!)

Just take him for a ride over Summit Road.At the speeds he apparently travels he will fly off the side and end up in the Waimak anyway.Job done.

Dont you have something like another year to go before you get your licence back?
Why dont you get your licence back - then look at finding someone silly enough to ride with you.
Mark - you wonder why people pick on you - but you still start threads like this.
Are you a sitting at home in a gimp suit or something getting some perverse pleasure of being given shit?

let him dream his wet dreams
there are enough 55kph crns down here that will toss him aside
but they are the easy crnrs.
its the 15kph to 35ph crns that are unmarked
not that us "nanas" dont know where they are
Kaikora inland route anybody?
Skidmark would soon become his name on that road at his "boasted" speed
and thats an easy southern road

Read between the lines a bit, and watch a young fella struggling growing up, and at least have the good sense to withdraw from the public flogging, and putting your own character, or rather lack of it, on display.
I re-read the quote and I dont see what you are saying. There is no struggling to grow up there.
Weak ? I do not think so. Who is truly weak are those who kick someone on the ground just because everyone else is.
I never inferred he was weak - and some of us actually post what we think regardless if others agree with us or not.

In CHCH are those 90deg corners between the airport and golf course still there, and the road to Mcleans island still sealed over the stopbank (long jump)?
Also round Darfield there is some secondary roads that cross fords without bridges, skill enough for ya at 150 in full flood.......

Yeah mint, i would try be in town for a good few days but i would not be pushing it on the track either as i would be on a bike that i cant risk crashing, i want to see the roads too, i wouldn't be giving it stick nor speeding. all i was saying was the pace they were riding at wasn't quite there and i was wondering if there is anybody i can follow around who really does know the roads, sorry if i offended anybody it was 230 am i was a touch tipsy and it did not come out right. my genuine apologys.

but i would not be pushing itYou're not obliged to, I'll be riding at my own pace, as will everyone else. If you want to follow the fast guys, go right ahead... I'm friends with some of the people in that video, and have ridden with most of the others. There's a pretty good chance that they all made it home fine, like the week before, and the week before that, that's justification enough for them to 'nana' around imho. Rest assured that if someone rips on you for how 'slowly' you rode when you're down here, I'll be giving them the same message you got...

No i'm just not going to go out on roads i dont know and come out of a 65 or something down 90kph then find it goes straight into a hairpin 25.
as i say i can see the roads myself but i will take them at nana pace.
would just be good to have somebody with alot of experiance with these roads that we can chuck a bike to bike headset on and they can say hey mate lookout doosie coming up that has gravel usually etc etc.
Last thing i want to do it crash on some corner all the locals know about that i won't. it's a long walk home.

Sure Mark can say and do somethings that a stupid and i'm sure that he'll agree with me but he is human and deserves to be treated as one. before you jump on me for defending him i've had my own personal spats with him in the past but the person i am i don't judge others for conditions they have or they way they are. the bit of road i love is the switch back section heading north from queenstown over the crown range. something like 10 30k switchbacks. in order to get around the corner without going over the line ya almost have to come to a stop, change down, creep around and change up. very tricky due to the number of downhill vehicles that cut the corner with you half way round.

You're not the only one that thinks that, there seems to be North Island urban myth that South Island cars and bikes are 'better' in some way, more desirable, had an easier life or something.
Just look at the number of TradeMe ads that have the words "genuine South Island car" or "purchased off South Island owner" or "spent majority of its life in the South Island".
What is it with this South Island thing? - you never see the reverse, i.e. "Scored from the Norht Island".

It goes back many many years. Probably at least a century . It was a long established notion when I was a child (my father was in the motor trade, and South Island as a term of recommendation was common).
I think it originated in the early days of motoring, when South Island pretty much meant Christchurch.
Christchurch roads were flat. And the surface was neither lime (as in the far north) or the (much dreaded) pumice as in the central North island.
So a South Island car had probably suffered less from being forced over the hilly North Island terrain , radiator boiling madly, exhaust pipes glowing red, and the primitive oil of the day way beyond failure point (nobody was fool enough to even THINK of trying to take a car over the Southern Alps!).
And had suffered less corrosion and grinding paste damage from inhospitable road surfaces.

CHCH is good anytime there is not an easterly blowing, year round.
For the rest of the Island.........well........
from November till march, be prepared to get wet, windblown, hot and covered in dust all on the same day.
if its wet on the east coast, go over to the west, you will enjoy the mountain passes doing this.Real mountain passes lol.
If you think the desert road is long and boaring, dont travel the coast road from CHCH to Dunners lol.

Any corner can bite you if you don't read it right Mark, and reading the road is all part of learning. Having said that, some roads are harder to read than others, that's why I never go too fast on the road, always leave a good chunk in reserve. The road is not a racetrack. There are plenty of roads down here you will love and I'm sure plenty of people will ride with you (they will be watching for stupid stuff too tho). The guys and girls that regularly ride the hills are all good to ride with, sometimes the pace is quicker than others.. that vid is of a cruisy ride possibly with some learners so no-one is gonna be hanging it out. Subike's (page 5) post and offer of job help etc seems like a bloody good idea

the bit of road i love is the switch back section heading north from queenstown over the crown range. something like 10 30k switchbacks. in order to get around the corner without going over the line ya almost have to come to a stop, change down, creep around and change up. very tricky due to the number of downhill vehicles that cut the corner with you half way round.
one of my favourite bits that provides a challenge i cant find up here.
To true dudette,we did that road in a crewcab commodore, the return trip was tricky due to a truck and trailer in front and roadworks towards Queenstown end,a few times other trucks had to stop.

When is the best time of year to go down for good weather /road conditions down in CHCH?
When you have your license back & have a job, a job that pays enough so you can save that amount.
By which time most here will be old & grey
Jesus your a dreamer if ever there was one. How bout fixing your eyes on getting a job first, then saving the funds and then how you will spend it. Dreamers typically three steps ahead of themselves & typically never make it.
