Noise issues at Ken Fells

Alot of you who attended were probably not aware the Rodney council were doing noise testing at the boundary on the golf course and also the neighbours place. Ken was warned during the week that they would be in attendance. With full credit to Ken and his team they still decided to run the track close to the golf course boundary, the results were all clear with an average reading of 76 decibels at the golf course and 60 decibels at the neighbours which is excellent news. So Ken can still safely run with his 8 events per year. Also taken into account was the 330 entered riders so classes were also 40 gate above. I know Ken will still be looking at noisy bikes in future events so be aware now that noisy bikes will not allowed shortly.

cool thats good to hear. Ken told me Sat moring when i turned up about the testing and then pointed to run the track down there which we did,at the time i did question his sanity but ity all worked out mint in the end!!!

on this topic, does it actually make those 4 strokes, particularly the 450's any faster by being so loud? it seems excessive, you can get cars putting out 10x more power with a fraction of the volume with much larger engines, why do the bikes have to make so much noise?

Josh coppins bike tests at 94db, where NZ's guys are winging at having to get to 98db, and you think they can beat Josh on the loud bikes!!!

we tested bikes on the dyno, got the bike down to 94db and lost .75 of a horsepower, and we could not notice on the track,

99.9% of the people with loud four strokes cant use all the power in stock form let alone with pipe etc. A loud bike doesnt make it fast just gives the people that are grizzeling something more to moan about and more reason to close land down.

saw it happing other week up north bunch a tossers real lound bike not at all that quick till you get in ear shot of the car park then you got ta thrash the shit out of it (guess we all show off a bit but you dont have to havve a lound as bike to do that) shit there was a yzf400 there way as well of thrown the muffler away for what use it did.

the problem with the loud exhausts as i see it, on the start say, you cant hear your own fuckin bike over the shitty loud ones, which puts me off getting a quiet muffler (mine is stock).

Not when he was riding those old suzukis at the 96 supercross nats, he was what made us think loud is fast haha

yeah, i can remember those loud rm's god knows ow Murray thorn actually make those bikes so loud, but man they were fast,
if the god dam enviromentally friendly fourstrokes had not got here it would not be a problem, dam them all

Its good to hear that noisey bikes are sounding out of flavour with everyone. OK i have a quiet as WR250 but if all bikes were that quiet we would definately not have noise issues.

Well I just fitted a FMF "shorty" on my cr125 the other day and it is quieter now and sounds a shit load better it barks now rather than whines

EVERYONE said it would make my bike louder and sound like shit ha

Nothing worse than trying to talk over a shitty loud slow bike pure lack of care for both bike and others around them leads to it

God yes! Must've been loud stock mate! I've got a pro circuit shorty on my CR and it's too loud for my liking aye. Might have to go back to stock on that one.
