Honda VFR750 chain tensioning.

Holey cow How do ya tension the chain on a single side swingarm viffer?
I just cant see how its done.

Did you get the tool kit with it? If so its easy.

Look at the back of the bike just inside the sprocket and you'll see a bolt sticking up off the back of the alloy swingarm. Find the right spanner from the toolkit to fit it, then loosen it a bit. Then find the great big c-spanner that comes with the toolkit. Look just to the left of the bolt and there will be the notched ring just to the right of the sprocket. Fit your c-spanner about horizontally and make sure it is fitted in one of the notches on the top of the ring, then just carefully push down on the c-spanner until your chain is tightened just right. Don't over do it, recommended slack is written on the chain guard - mine is 20mm total play. The shops have a habit of overtightening them - don't! The notched thingy is basically the hub housing which is eccentric so when you move it it shifts the centrepoint of the axle. Easy really, no need for pissing around trying to adjust left and right side evenly with these. Once you've got it right, tighten up the bolt, put your tools away and all is sweet.

If you haven't got the tool kit (the bastard that sold it to you should be shot) you'll at least need a correctly sized c-spanner.

Talk to a wrecker, they will have one from a toolkit if they have wrecked one & toolkit hasn’t been swiped as well.
