Hey
I've noticed there isn't a lot of womens gear available (compared to mens gear anyway), and some of the dealers that do stock womens gear, usually don't have full size ranges either... so bears the question...
Which gear do you wear and why?

i love my new wet weather condom! Ixon is good qual.....
but most of my gear is made up by
NEX helmet: size XXS (only one that i can find to fit my head at the time)
SPYKE jacket and gloves: both in kids sizes (once again hard to find gear to fit me)
Draggin Jeans: oh so comfy and 2 sizes to big
so my only bitch about gear: make some in my size!

lol glad to hear your human condom suit did its job!
Yeah smaller sizes are hard to come by... Ixon also do a kids leather jacket that looks alright, but will only land in Nz in about 2 months...

I suspect that women are like men riders in that they mix and match their kit, based on climate and seasonal considerations. Like men, any woman who dressed exclusively in one brand of apparel from top to toe, could probably be classified as being a bit anal. Or a Harley owner...

Yeah a lot of women do mix n match... which why the poll is a multi-option :)
I wear:
Shark Helmet
Alpinestar SMX3 Boots
Spyke 2 piece leathers
R-Jays Textile Jacket (soon to be replaced with a Macna Jacket or a leather Ixon Jacket - whichever arrives first in my size)
R-Jays Textile Pants (Soon to be replaced with Ixon pants)
Draggin Jeans
Neo Gloves (soon to be replaced with Alpinestars once the supplier gets some in stock... damn backorders)
Quasi Back Protector
I just find it hard to get womens pants that are decent looking and don't have the "nappy" effect. Also boots are a bitch if you want sporty/racey boots and not pillion/tourer looking boots... most race boots start at a size 40 if your lucky (which I'm not... and the boots I want start at a 42.... :spanking: )

My Dririder jacket ahs alsted me well, had that for close to two and a half years... rjays textile pants have also been good for touring, I have tried draggin' jeans around town but foudn them really uncomfortable and the padding looked really weird.
New gloves and boots are next on my list, old ones wearing quite thin, but the problem I had (in late 2006) was that only one pair of gloves actually fitted me. SInce then I have seen maybe one pair with armour that was my hand size, so the range to choose from wasn't that diverse. Haven't even started on the boot search yet, seems so daunting atm, maybe finding out my shoe size would be a good start! Where is the best place to go in akl for a good range of ladies' boots anyway?

I have just found lifestyle imports just out of Pukekohe, went out for a look on Sunday and brought some saddlebags at a really good price. He had lots of jackets and pants there too in every size from kids sz4 to xxxl (and up?) No idea of brands though. I didn't realise bike gear had become so branded. I am still wearing my leather jacket I got when I was 18... its black and looks like I belong to a biker gang.
ps...he has boots too, nice tidy ones right through to what looks like the ones they used in starwars for the stormtroopers..(obviously mx boots)

I've been wearing a mens shift jacket and have just gotten an icon women's one of ebay - it rocks! It's so great having something that actually fits at last. I have quasi women's pants which are good although they do have a baggy bum that makes me look like I have a donald duck tail.

I mostly wear my old Leather Fashions jacket I bought when I was 15. It's been patched up a few times and looks a bit rough but its comfy, warm in winter and cool in summer. Best part is the right hand pocket lining has blown so I can fit HEAPS of stuff in it. I also have a BMW Atlantis Pro fancy jacket but my son wears it more than me.
My leather pants are getting a bit tight round the waist but I still prefer them to my fancy BMW Tourance Trousers which are ok but make me sweat too much.
I mostly wear my 12 year old Shoei helmet for short trips. The BMW SportIntegral helmet is good, comfy and really quiet but I had a mishap one day riding past the fly-over at the Mount when they were spray painting so I got overspray on the visor. Replacement visor is $170 so I dont think I will be replacing it.
Gloves are RJays xxs.
Boots are Gaerne but a little loose around the calves.

I woud be really keen to hear what it is the ladies want in way of gear, ie colours, styles, pockets, features, whatever, what special things do you want in your gear that you cant get in the main brands (or mine)
I would be happy to start developing something new for the girls.

I like black with a coloured trim. I don't like pockets on the hips as they make me look enormous! But I do like a pocket on the front for your key or a hankie. Don't put velcro on the pockets because it sticks to bloody everything and is a pain in the arse if you forget and put a tissue in your pocket.
Elasticated bit at the back of the waist so it doesn't go all saggy and baggy, and a range of leg lengths for the shortarses amongst us!
And good sizing - I take a 14 in clothes, yet when I try on bike pants, even a large size is too tight. I have seen far larger women, so where the hell do they get their pants?

I wear Quasi Jacket and Pants and with my L plate and my Pink jacket, people tend to back off and don't follow to closely, due to me obviously being female hahahaha:clap:
I love my quasi gear and wouldn't wear anything else. Except I have found that your gloves don't fit small hands. The fingers are fine but the body of the glove isn't made for narrow thin hands like I have and tend to slip.:weep:

Gloves are a real hard one to get right, we do xs up to xxl, and some people fit well and some dont, its very hard as peoples hands are so unique, all are different especially womens hands, long slender to short and "unslender"
its hard to have a range of gloves to fit all.
Do our best though.
Spent most of last night designing a new race glove but will be based around the same sizing structure............cool glove though, possible the first glove with KNOX armor in it in this country

Don't www.motormail.co.nz have two outlets up your way? Have no idea of what they stock in way of brands etc, but going by there web site they seem to have a huge range. Maybe have look and see what they have and if you see something you like or in a style you like but feels cheap etc, show Quasi????..... just options.
It does pay to look around and don't rush in buying, unless you are really really happy with it.

Quasi - I've found that the BIGGEST issue people come up with when I deal with them is the nappy arse effect 99% of pants have.
The Ixon Luna pants are the best so far which for the most part are nice fitting and they come from an XS to a 5XL.
The next biggest issue with pants, which has been mentioned before is the leg length... they are pretty standard and if your slim and tall your outta luck and have to compromise for nappy arse, and if your short and curvey you get way too much leg room... which results in clumping and the knee armour riding up/down and not sitting correctly... The Ixon Angelic pants have tried to combat this by putting in an adjustable seam and a two way adjustable knee armour system...
But still... trying to find one pant that does the above is rather hard... and of course it has to look good and not every chick out there likes pink plastered all over the stuff they buy... or pretty embroidery and flowers and shit (no offense to those that do).

i'm sort of large-ish, longish arms and legs, slim-ish hips, biggish feet.....
helmets i have Shoei, Shark and nolan [i think] looking for more :sunny: my sidi boots fit beautifully - but as for the rest ......
.... i've tried wearing womens clothes [as i understand many here have - irrespective of gender :innocent:] but after suffering a jo rocket ladies jacket that fit my chest and shoulders but had sleeves at near elbow-length when riding and a hip-flare that started under my bust and ended at bellybutton level ---- and ladies draggins that fit except the waistband rode down over my hips when i sat [yes, it looked funny ... but no, i wasn't laughing ...] i finally gave up and shopped in the mens' department
i'm now not stylish, but at least i'm covered ...... and black is soooooo slimming
........ unlike some here, i tend to stay away from pink and white [at my size i'd look like a stick of blackpool rock in it ]

Guys have that trouble too! I'm short and all the pants I tryed on would fit around the waist ok, but had an extra 3-4'' of leg passed my heal!!!! I got some Quasi pants and leg length is great, still have a little nappy arse....but I have NO arse anyway.... only time you see it is bending over..."Yeah Baby!" or on the bike. This was just there stock pants and really fitted great and feel good too.

Ahhh... Yes it does go both ways... you can get Mugello pants that have either a long or short leg, but as far as I'm aware thats the only men's pant that comes with those options...

Shoei Helmet
Quasimoto leather jacket.....love it! Feels like theres decent protection although the sleeves are just a tad long. I can't help being a midget :shifty: Also Quasimoto gloves.
Mens Dri Rider pants. Dont fit properly and I have been looking for an alternative for ages.
Jandals...oops I mean Zac boots. Way too small but the only choice the shop had at the time and I wanted them then and there.
Hmmm....anyone know where I can get some leather tassles for the jacket? I need to adapt the jacket so it suits my new bike image better

I know sizing is an issue for you... but it sounds like you need a jacket that zips onto the pants, that way the pants will hold the jacket down and stop it riding up...
Most brands that do textile gear have added in that feature now with a zip approx 20-30cm long along the back that zips from jacket to pant and vice versa... and most of the jackets/pants will fit the zips so you don't even need to buy the same brand jacket and pants to get them to zip up...

Rev-it sapphire leather jacket which is cool, all my friends want to steal it! I just wear jeans around town or the boyfriends ixon pants.
I tried on the new ixon leather pants at the MCR ladies night and they were very cool, not that i can really afford them at the mo.
Well I want pants that are long enough for my legs, you can always take things up but cant add length. I too like black and aren't really into colours or embroidery. I like gear that serves its purpose but is also flattering/fits the womens form.

Ok here goes:
Helmet: have an old agv & nolan but the shark I have is the best.
Boots: Garane adventure comfy wear them all day at work but wish they wouldn't get wet.
Gloves: Have had spidi xsmall summer gloves but the thumbs wore through in a summer. Now have Venom ladies teknics -love them & winter ones-don't know the brand.
Pants: Leathers from Leather Image-jean style.
Have Neo cordura small mens pants-hate them, hard to get over the hips, but fit when on but I can't wear with knee guards as I have fatter knees then the spindly male shape & they sit too high for my waist, there was only one womens style in the local shops when I got them & they were huge in all the wrong places while the rest fitted. So if anyone has a friend who whats smallmens pants let me know. I'm sticking to leather.
Need to find some wet weather over pants now that aren't a mile longer than my legs:rolleyes: Have some wet winterweight ones but need light easy to rollup small ones.
Jackets: Have had a trusty bommer style leather from Hunters for 15yrs till recently. Great but once I started riding bikes I found it a but short in length to tour in & around town I got sunburnt on the back.
Have a cordura Orina mens jacket that is shapeless the neck is too huge & when I fill the pockets it is uncomfortable due to placement off them-get in the way off boobies & flabby tummy when leaning over the tank. Use it for short commutes now as it leaks in rain but ok for a short blat. Yes I have treated it regulary, the first year it was great.
My new Jacket is the Trimuph Sabre leather and is comfy even though it is new.
Dririder shell wet jacket have yet to be tested.
Still use polyprops etc but due to upgrade some off that stuff-be good to hear what others find warm & comfy.
I too prefer black- not practical to have white/light colours especially at rally's & pink just makes me
:sleep:that was long winded sorry.

Helmet is XS HJC..that already start to get to big afte ronly 8 months of use..:(
Gloves are old ones from France, XS, brand is Richa but did not see it around here
2 pieces leather Rev-It, pant is for men/women (so XS for me) but jacket is tight on the waist and very feminine (bt size is L :() so I don't look too big in it (or at least from what i think lol)..
Boots are stunt shoes Alpinestars..(size 5, from France)
My biggest problem is finding cheap boots in size 5/6. Small boots do exist but you need to get into big brands and there are absolutly no sale on them..
Actually looking for some by the way :p

The only women's gear I've been happy with and am committed to one brand is for off road, Fox Racing. I love their styles, colors, and options! I only wear fox, I'm happy. So far I haven't found anything great for street riding... options here are super limited, not many women ride and most that do it is on the back of their boyfriends bike, and they have matching gear... bleh... It seems like all the street gear here for women looks the same :( I want something cute and stylish and fun!

I have a shoei helmet and am wanting to by some Zxtar infinity boots.
After years of wearing guys boots I find I no longer fit the womans ones comfortably, I find they are too narrow.
I have a guys leather jacket which is to big in the chest, and a tecknic jacket that I liked.
I also say no to pink or embroidery. but, I would like coloured panels but mainly black, cut in a flattering style, lower than waist lenght.

Helmet: HJC CS12
Pants:
1) Dririder Nordic 4 (too short in the leg though - need to find some that fit better)
2) Black Draggins. None of the women's ones fitted right so I ended up buyin a men's pair and having them taken in at the waist to fit.
Gloves: two pairs of Spools - one with armour and one without
Jackets:
1) Dririder men's jacket in black - never really fitted properly but was cheap and a good waterproof backup. Also I can wear its black quilted liner as a completely separate jacket for social wear, so I often wear the liner under one of the other jackets if I'm going out.
2) Spidi Ontrack ladies' jacket in dark blue - warm, waterproof and versatile. My standard jacket in the winter
3) Spidi "Fit for Lady" Power Airtech jacket in black - I would have preferred the light grey one but Motomail didn't have any in my size the day I bought this one. Wonderfully cool in summer and a real pleasure to wear.
Boots: Sidi Lei 'Rose' style - black
As far as colours go, most of my gear is black - the exception is the dark blue jacket which might as well be black! This isn't out of choice - I bought for fit and the colour was incidental.
I would like a lighter coloured summer jacket just so it's cooler to wear on my long (and sometimes slow) daily commute.

I quite like my gear.
Notice I'm the first to say Macna. They are very very good quality, comfy pants and they come in midget right up to my size(fat slug) and bigger!
Am so relieved that I won't be thought of as anal too wearing the same brand from top to toe!
I mix it up :devil2:
Between: Ixon jacket..."for the most beautiful girls" it says on the inside :rolleyes: also have a crusty dri-rider jacket. Macna Pants and also Draggin Jean cargos and black leather :devil2: My boots are kindly on loan and I can't remember what they are and can't be arsed going to check. Quasimoto gloves and back protector (nicely broken in for Sunday I might add Mrs K..though not the gloves unfortunately) Back protector - well worth it's weight in gold and doesn't make my jacket and helmet ride up (unlike the stupid woosey piece of foam used to!)
Oh :rolleyes:and mustn't forget my racing one piece:devil2:...well hubbies actually - crotch down round my ankles:lol: Feels good on the track but!

Hate the ghey pinks and baby blues but want more than just the stock black. A chicks fit in mens colour schemes would be cool.

R-Jays helmet - obviously bought new, but at a bargainous price
Second hand no brand leather jacket .. but it fits like a glove and I'm completely in love with it.
Dririder gloves - bought these brand new at a steal, amazingly comfy winter gloves
Free leather gloves :D never gonna complain about free stuff, just needed mending a touch but they're a really good fit. Should be awesome come summer time.
Frank Thomas boots - man these are awesome! Got them on Trademe. Thickest leather I've ever seen with super warm fleece lining and a reinforced toe. Alex is jealous
When I get more money (and when pigs fly) I'll be investing in some Quasi stuff I'm sure - thats if him indoors has anything to say about it.

AGV Helmet, bought new from Holeshot as a Xmas gift to me by 007XY
Cordura jacket and pants are Dri Riders bought on sale a couple of years ago. They have been waterproof up until now, and I do a lot of riding long distance, often in the rain. Will treat them with some Nikwax before the Cold Duck and they'll be back to normal
Boots are Gaerne's, bought about 5 years ago...still waterproof, and damn comfortable even to walk in now.
Gloves are needing to be rerplaced. Can't recall the brand, and the sticker no longer shows the name anyway they're that old. I'm struggling to find a good winter glove with proper armour bits, but that won't cost the earth.
Have just been given an awesome leather jacket, with in built armour which I am so in love with...trouble is, the weather is no longer really suitable for it and so will have to wait for summer again :crybaby:
As soon as I can afford it, I'll be buying that suit Quasi has been taunting me with for ages now

I have just purchased new gear for my wife she found it hard to get gear fitting properly but settled on a womens jacket from Macna and pants from Rev-It and she found them comfortable from the first ride. Boyd Motorcycles in Hamilton usually has a good range of womens gear.

I'm in the process of getting some gear for my wife since she's now got a bike which will be going one day.
She wants a jacket which is fitted but not colours like pink and baby blue. Stuff like black and grey and red. darker blue would be ok though, or maybe yellow.

Check out Street N Sport & Just motorcycles (Joe Rocket) they have those colours in chic gear. I got a black & grey leather from st n sport.

Lid...........HJC: CL-14Y (I was told Y stood for youth :o)
Jackets....winter: Dririder/Alpine ---xs
winter/summer: RST -- 8 (removable thermal liner) Don't know style. Love it, warm as
Gloves.....RJays: -- L (but I have small hands & they're a good fit)
Liners......Rjays: work ok (not thermals)
Pants......RJays: Explorer II textiles -- xs (still too big - I can take them off
without undoing the zip ) Removeable thermal/water-
resistant liner.
But not game incase they fall down when walking around. Aaah!
Wet Weather Pants....Belfast: old pr of waxcottons (good in the snow lol)
Boots......Sidi B2: -- mens size 7 (I'm size 7 womens) brilliant/love them
.............Apinestars: motocross (think tech6?) -- mens 7 dead sexy
My only gripe is the RJays textile - I look like the evil Telly Tubby when all geared up :devil2:
& I slip on the bike seat
Yes, the shat my pants look is not a girls best friend.
Anyone got leather pants that are functional & 'girly'

All my stuff with the exception of my jeans are men's stuff- have found it hard to find affordable women's gear that fits!
Quasimoto Sliderz jeans- size 12 (awesome, got on trademe :) )
Rev-It waterproof pants- size L
R-Jays Trakka jacket- size L
R-Jays Urban boots.
I had an Ixon jacket that I grew too small for, and my Ixon pants are now also too big and I ripped the waterproof lining in them :( The Hein Gericke pants I had tore all the way down the inner thigh after a dirt-bike and I had a disagreement with gravity...
It hacks me off that all women's gear seems to have a premium attached to it. I was also stunned that I'm too big for the Ixon XXL sizing here. WTF?

Helmet - a 2nd hand open face helmet. Can't tell brand since it was worn off when the last owner had an off
Jacket - winter coat from Hallensteins
Pants - standard jeans with PVC overpants for extra protection (if its wet / cold)
Gloves - knitted by mum with pure wool to keep warm
Shoes / boots - gumboots for waterproofing, otherwise jandals if in summer and its too hot

just cos we're chicks we dont have to compromise quality or style these days!! you just have to shop around :)
I have a tecknic 2 piece for the road which fits like a glove and makes me look like a chick.
XXS Shoei XR1000 and Raid II
Gloves courtesy of Quasi, I have the smallest hands around and comfortably fit his smalls!
Boots: Sidi B2's size 37 (i'm a womens 4/5) and Vertebra's same size, admitadely i brought the B2's in the USA and verts in the UK but ebay is your friend :) i landed them way cheaper than any store quoted me and they said it would be months to order them in.
Race 1 piece again Courtesy of Quasi, custom of course so it fits, but he gives us lovely KBer's a good price and he's great to deal with.
I thought i would really struggle being the size i am to get good gear, but a bit of shopping and its all possible, only thing i can say is you are worth every penny spent on good gear if you crash, i invite anyone to come see my gloves/leathers/boots/helmet and i wouldnt have spent a cent less after coming away with as little damage as i did after the last round of racing. One thing i have noticed is the lack of protection on people's feet, my sidi's have armour all over them, sides and right up the back, if it wasnt for this i would have a seriously crushed ankle right now and i do urge you guys to spend a little more and get the good boots.
just my 2c worth :)

The B2's are real popular here, too. It seems every other person has a pr.
I got mine as exdisplay stock, so only cost $200. Which is good here.
My Alpinestars are new for $180, from a Cash Converters store (pawnbrokers).
So, yeah, shop around & haggle - play stores off against each other - I can always get $20-40 off a $120 item.
If anyone wants help getting gear sent over from here, happy to help, but you guys might have more range then us

I went to Celtic leathers & got my gear made to fit me, excellent! Got sick of the shop stuff's poor fit. I wouldn't buy off the rack again.
Helmet is Arai, found out I am hard to fit for a helmet too.
Lots of shop stuff to get rid of, if anyone starting out needs some gear.

Helmets - HFC used to love it now it feels soo heavy compared to the Shoei XR1000 Patriot which I adore  The anti-fog visor is the business
BXS leather trousers - made to measure for somebody else got £40 from UK. Nothing beats then BKS full suit £600-1200 in UK. These are ex-cops and often come up on ebay. well worth shipping.Rarely leak in the rain and removable lining, can get thermal liner too.
Triumph Retro jacket - love it  Only down side is the lack of aluminium liner that comes for the guys jackets but I wear it all year and with a chill out underneath rarely get cold.
Gloves - Revit h20- had mens xs but the thumb was very short and made my thumb joint ache on long rides so got ladies fit and that sorted it.
Triumph gloves (of course) lighter so not ideal for long cold rides.
Revit boots - just got them and so far very impressed. Look great, comfortable and haven't leaked :2thumbsup: ieven though it was foul in Palmie this evening. Slim fit which is important as I have long feet but narrow 43 and many boots for men and really wide.
Spidi Cordura jacket - colour co-ord for the Honda otherwise rarely sees the road now. Is a good jacket, warm and confortable but a bit short in the arms and tight on hips with the leathers ( my ass too big and jacket mans so not flared over the child-bearing hips ) this pushes back armour up and can be uncomfortable.
Revit jacket - never wear it, nice long arms, black and silver. Needs a home. Find it a little restrictive and just doesn't have the aah feeling of the Triumph jacket.
Gave mate the revit pants because she did me a huge favour and lent me car to rescue the Daytona from the bottom of the Rimutakas and I love the BKS too much to wear anything else. Look sexy and very comfortable.
Do like the new Revit cordura jackets tho .... must stay out of the bike shop
Sucker for Triumph stuff but hassled rep about getting stuff that looks sexy and is functional. When will they get that the emerging market is babes who wanna ride bikes as well as look good on the back

I have a Shoe hat= Top dog for me.$900 job. Get what ya pay for i say.
Leather 2 piece suit from Rev- it. Fits like a glove and would buy another one tomorrow.
Gloves are the same and they fit so comfy. Real hard to get gloves that fit too so real surprised when i got these.
Boots are a brand that i can't remember so not much point in raving about them i guess. They fit good though.
Also got Rev-it textile that ended up leaking in the water which was a bit dissapointing. Motomail did give me a rain suit for nothing because of that though so no complaints here.
Go Motomail i say.
