Increasingly, this website bores the shit out of me. As the memership level rises, the interesting content decreases proportionaly.
It's a shame, I really feel indebted to KB and the whole community as without it, I certainly would be in a VERY different place.
But yeah, it's boring.

Actually, does anyone know anyone who listens to Talk-back radio? Are they the most opinionated buggers?
I've noticed that the more time I spend on KB the more opinionated I become, can't watch the news without having an opinion about every article, so I liken KB to talk-back radio, makes everyone have an opinion about everything, even stuff they normally wouldn't give a shit about.... like this thread, hahaha. Maybe because we have been around a while, we see newbies joining and going over all the same stuff again? Still, the site is growing and maybe we could put our thinking caps on and see if we can liven things up a bit?

Yeah, I keep hanging around. At times I may go off for a while, but as I'm "between jobs" at the mo. I suffer "bored housewife" syndrome and I've found myself watching Jeremy Kyle and sometimes Dr. Phil, and spending too much time on KB...!!!
I try to keep busy and I have plenty to do with housework, doing the washing and cooking and washing the cars and bike, and mowing the lawn and annoying my mate at work... Oh, and job hunting...

I am amazed that people around here judge on opinion rather than fact! Meet people get to know them and then form an opinion, I will put my hand up and say i have done this in the past, but have grown up!
I have met some of the best people here and hope to continue doing so.

KB is like going down to the pub for a beer and a chat! :ride:
The best part is mixing with people right across the age and gender spectrum too.
At least you don't have to listen to some uninteresting yobbo spilling their guts "and" their beer all over you.
You can read or ignore what you want and drink according to your own requirements and taste too.
KB has been and will continue to be a real place for me to mix, meet and communicate with like minded people with similar interests as myself.
For me, living in a small isolated community, KB is a godsend, long live KB and KBer's! :niceone: Cheers John.

I agree with White Trash, which is unfortunate... the place has started to bore me, and not because as suggested that newbie’s are going through the same old things. For me it the calibre of person and posting that has become the more prevalent thing on KB.
On a personal note:
Over 4 years ago I was asked if I would help Spankme and my very dear friend wari run this site... I of course said I would (anything for a friend)... I was given some guidelines to use and was told that this was how the site was to be run... if I knew what I know now; I would have turned wari down on the spot.
90% of people on this site have never me, yet they have decided they know, and know me well enough to throw all kinds of abuse my way... because of decisions I made based on the site owners rules. I have more people who hate me now than I have had my whole life. Pretty pathetic really, because these people have never met me, they have just drawn a conclusions with one eye closed.
If they had taken the time to meet me first and get to know me, they would know I’m a huge softie, who takes people’s problems and troubles on board, and who cries way more often than I care to admit.
The abuse, threats and aggression I faced has left me a worse off person... I know I was not 100% innocent at times, and for that I am not proud... however I was abused to a limit I never consciously knew was possible and at times did not know how to deal with it as its not part of my usual modus operandi.... however as I have said before I have met people who are more nasty than I ever knew existed in this place... and unfortunately, there are more of them than the good people I am now proud to call friends.
So KB is actually a pretty sad place for me... however my friends this place has given me I hold very close and cherish.

The personal attacks that I have watched from the sidelines have been staggering and demonstrate a breathtaking lack of EQ. Amazingly some members see this site as a place to say things that they wouldn’t dare say to that person directly.
The reason is probably lack of consequences and I don’t like seeing people conduct themselves this way. I think it not only makes them look small and incapable empathy but more importantly detracts heavily from the value that this community can offer. It shits me that Joni and many others I am sure feel a bit beaten up.
On the flip side, I have met some pretty good people here and it has translated to real life friendships beyond the fact that we ride bikes. I also like that if I want company on a ride I can phone about 10 people met through Kiwi biker that are usually keen to get out. This is the value I get out of the place.
I would like to see less of the crap and more of the good stuff, you know bikes and people who love them, the people who want to learn more about them and mostly just want to ride them.

On a personal note KB has given me so much genuine Joy over the years.
Highlights for me are
Being encouraged to go back racing after a (very) long sabattical
Seeing so many KBers having fun at the KB track days.
Learning stuff of REAL meaning to my life.
Being able to give back to other bikers some of what I've learned.
Watching novice riders get better and better at their riding.
MOST IMPORTANT --Ive met some bloody wonderful people I"m happy to call my freinds
Shit theres so much positive here ya just gotta see through the crap

Maybe KB could be split into two streams, that would make two intelligent motorcycle forums, and thus the general interest of each contributor would increase by association. No, not really.

I've only been on here a couple of years....well more like one really, as I pretty much only slut around KB when I'm away at work half the time....and even in that time there has been a noticeable change of tone. It's like a "bring a box o' beer" backyard party has slowly but surely morphed into a school wine and cheese evening.
Sure the fisticuffs, drunkenness and antisocial behaviour won't be missed by most but the way the ties are a little too tight and the skirts a little too far below the knee is almost as offensive. It's reminds me of that guy (McMurphy) off One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest where he starts off all cocky and brash and full of life but ends up a pale imitation of himself.
Aaaah, who the fuck knows, maybe it's me that's changed, but I reckon we need the people from the extremities of the bell curve to bring some colour back to KB. Not just from a superficial entertainment point of view but to present opposing viewpoints, build crazy machines, do/say the things we thought nobody would/should ever say or do. It challenges us, and makes us re-examine ourselves and the world we live in. But then not everyone wants to listen and/or learn, they'd rather just talk the same old rhetoric, just a bit louder in the face of a challenge. You know the type: "I'm a Labour/National supporter and I'll always be a Labour/National supporter" rather than examining the issues and voting accordingly.
I dunno, we seem to be more increasingly comprised of people and views from the centre of the bell curve whilst the people from the extremities are disappearing. There doesn't seem to be much to challenge people and/or make them think at all, let alone think outside the box.
Bring back the lunatic fringe!

Perceptive. And true.
Invariably, the middle of the bell curve hates and fears the extremities.
Rich smug and priggish, middle class NZ, having acquired a motorcycle as the latest fashion accesory , is swelling the ranks of the middle of KB's bell curve and driving out the extremities.
KB has become boring because now it reflects that middle of the bell curve. And those middle curvers are boring people. Boring people, boring site.

I would like to put forward that the middle of the bell curve also encompasses those of narrow mind and mediocre sense of humour too. Recently I have been surprised just how some members here relate to posts they read. I have even had some one red rep me for a comment I used in jest on a thread (used the p/t) heads up and it still was not acceptable. Other people found it funny I have to say.
The lengths some people will go to to denegrate and undermine others has certainly surprised me too of recent weeks.
I come on here to catch up with what my mates are up to, to ask for advice if I need it. To have my "opinionated" say if I am moved to do so, and to occasionally pull the piss.

I don't think I'm a middle of the bell curver - I'm away a lot and too busy to to really get into all the threads but then seeing I'm off over at the extremities (the nice extremity of course) I never say a bad word to any one anyway and do enjoy what I am involved with here.
