Hi All

Thought it might be a good idea to shake off the gravel riding cobwebs
and do some clay tracks to warm up for the CCA.

Sunday 20th looks like its not going to be raining.

Planning on riding in from the Upper Hutt side, meeting at Caltex around 10am.
Thought we could ride in up the param track and go round via the orange hut/Hydro road and then up to
the top of the Devils staircase.
Then depending on how slippery it is, come back via Whakatiki road, over
the param track and back out the Upper hutt entrance.

This will depend on the rivers not being to high to cross :)

Let me know if you're interested

Jim

Been having a chat with the big Jim about this make - sure you fullers have the route all sorted out and ready to rock and roll for the Friday :D

Can you please give us an idea of how long it takes to do said or similar routes assuming we start in Plimmerton. There are some oldies down here :dodge: who want to have their tents up before dark and dont want to wear them selves out for the big day (insert granddad smilie here). :bleh:

Cheers R

Takes 1.5hrs to go from Paraparaumu to Karapoti and same to come back. Its largely a clay/rock surface so recent rainfalls have a big impact on pain/time. I don't think I would want to ride right through if I was loaded with camping gear etc.

I suspect a ride into orange hut (half way) and back might be a better choice if you want to stay all perky and unbroken for Saturday.

I posted up a story about the Pram track a while back here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=35730 and measured distance straight across as 26.8km.

Hey all...
I am meeting a few guys on Saturday morning for a warm up ride around Coromandel. Sticking to the metal roads and hitting the pub for lunch etc.
Picked up my new 990s Adventure yesterday. I did just a couple of hundred Km on it and it is now in the garage under cover.
Decided to use the KTM 640 Adventure for the CCA as I am getting MT21 put on it next week and it will be more fun riding that in the mud, dirt etc it if is a little greasy.
I certainly will be keen for some activities on Sunday and have even thought about the 42 Traverse on the way home or similar.
Catch up with you all in Plimmerton. I will be setting up camp, tenting it, doing it the real adventure way excepting of course the drinkies and the grub!

Could be a starter. If we start at the Hutt end I would like to go all the way thru to Paraparaumu

Sorry chaps

I'm going to bail from this.
My knee is still a bit sore and may not handle Paraparaumu-Karapoti-Paraparaumu.

I will be up there Sunday if the weather is ok but will stay around the Paraparaumu end so might see you guys at some stage.

cheers

Mark

lol, me to.
Mind you after last nights rain, I think my chances of making it up the
param track are pretty slim

Might have a look later on this afternoon when the weather clears up a bit
