Hi guys,
Quick question...need a new rear shock for my 93 CR250 (either that or get it welded...which I'm trying not to do). I've found a 2003 one real cheap in the states.
Everything looks the same...but of cause that means nothing when going to fit it...so, does anyone know if this would fit my bike?
Also, if this doesn't fit...does anyone know what year rear shocks would fit my bike?
Cheers.

i really dont like the odds, but i cant confirm anything factual, i do know the framed changed completely 2 or 3 times in that time space tho, and the links are bound to have changed too. perhaps checking part numbers with honda might shed some light on it
also, which part is broken? could just that bit be swapped out then just sell the remainder of the 03 shock on tardme?

Cheers for the links guys.
My old one snaped around the bolt hole connecting to the linkages. Bolt had come part way out, didn't notice it.
Not sure that I'd trust a weld there...don't want it snapping on me.

New shafts can be made cheaper than buying a new one. If its the clevis that is broken a new one can be fitted to the shaft but you will have to get one via Honda and ex Japan probably. Do not attempt to remove the old clevis before discharging the nitrogen! Probably worth having a shock of that age pulled apart and looked at professionally before spending any money on new parts beforehand.

I see in the microfishe that Barty posted that the shaft and clevis is listed as one item. You could confirm that a Honda dealer cannot get the clevis seperate because this could pose an expensive fix if you needed to buy the clevis and shaft as one. Another option is to try and find a shock of the same year and build one good shock out of the parts. Its not easy with the older stuff sometimes. There will be a clevis somewhere but tracking it down could be difficult. Perhaps posting in Thumpertalks suspension forum will see a result. Alot of tuners in the US frequent there and some may have some old shocks or parts floating around.

I was quoted $800 from honda ex japan for the part...figured a 2nd hand one was in order.
EDIT: Keeping an eye on ebay for something to pop up...found a race tech one for my year that could be alright.

Econohonda have a good selection of 2nd hand parts.
Have you priced up an Ohlins shock to replace your 15 year old stock one?
