Oxford make a top that's got a wind-stop material on the front and arms. Works pretty well.
They do a pants too but I found the top made the biggest difference for me.

make sure your "thermal" gear is actually polypropylene. If it doesn't SAY "100% polypropylene" on the label then it aint the good stuff. Go to the sports store and ask, or look on trademe. The best polyprop I have ever had was double-force zip-up polo neck, but I've never been able to find this again. Wear it against yer skin, or maybe with a beater under it.

You can get 100% Merino thermal tops from the factory shop on Tremain Monie. Really warm and toastie:2thumbsup. Or maybe get a plug on the Ninja for your electric blanket?
Its time for the winter gloves too-I find if my hands get cold then everything else soon follows. :(

Or just buy some SKINZ  although i definately wouldn't wear them under your leathers ..you'd probably pass out from overheating yourself ,but under codura would definately work.
Mind you they are bloody expensive if your only using it for the bike :buggerd: but id say their isnt much better than a full Skinz kit

Something around your neck to stop the drafts - a buff or similar. I also find it makes a big difference when I wear something around my wrists (sweatband kinda things) to make sure there is no breeze up the arms.

Keeping wind out is probably the most important thing. Wear warm gear and your jacket but put a waterproof jacket over the top of the whole lot. By keeping the cold air out the warm gear will work much better. When alpine climbing in crap and cold weather a windproof jacket over polypro is far better solution than polafleece or down jacket over polypro. Same concept that when on a bike.

Kathmandu thermal top tucked into my oh-so-fetching matching thermal longjohns, complete with thermal socks. Then my good old RJays, lining IN. Neck warmer tick, balaclava tick. Only bit of me that still tends to get a bit cold are my hands. Rest of me is like toast.

I suffer from Raynauds Syndrome, so I wrap up in so many layers it's ridiculous! I wear a thermal long-sleeved singlet, then a long sleeved wool or angora top, a jacket, long scarf wrapped around about 4 times, then my Dririder bike gear with liners. I'm buying hand grip warmers also.
I try not to ride too much at night...

You could always try some heated hand grips. It's surprising how much heat you lose through your extremeties. I had them on my first GS500, and they were good in the cold.
Perhaps you could look at a double bubble screen to direct the wind away from your head. (At least you've got a fairing on the Kwak).
Personally I find that if I wear a neck tube, have the lining in my jacket (Teknic), and wear a thick pair of socks it's all good. For some reason, I always FEEL warmer if I wear ear plugs.
There are heaps of winter gear that you can buy. Oxford do a range of glove inners, etc.

Sounds daft, but on try wrapping a newspaper around yourself... under your jacket. It's a cheap and easy way to get warm (if you get caught short out int he middle of nowhere, just pick up a paper and uyou're good to go)
Otherwise polyprop

Stick a newspaper down the front of your jacket.
This is a goody if you get caught out. Grab a paper from the petrol station and bunch the pages up inside your jacket. Stuff em in good and firm, just make sure you can still bend.
Good short term "get you home" insulation.

Wool, my preference is merino, mix it with a bit of possum fur and you will never be cold according to my old Mommy...LOL Seriously, these acrylic products are wonderful, but natural fibres next to skin are the berries. Lots of light layers beats the cold. Drafts/wind, biggist chiller of a biker, so do your best to eliminate the wind.
Seriously..?

Dude, we live in the winterless Norf here, we really dont know what cold is, unless we are wet and riding after dark in the winter at some speed. You can get seriously cold and hypothermic on a bike. Wind chill factor is something that all riders should factor into their gear.

You don't say which part is cold but I suspect, like others have said, it may be the area just below your neck? This is one of the harder bits to keep warm and is why you get all these neck warmers etc on the market.
I have a Revit Balaclava (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/products/searchresults/oldreviews/Textile-Clothing/Jackets/RevIt-Hyper-Balaclava-/?&R=EPI-1645) made of their excellent windproof material. I've tried kneck-warmers (they roll down your face when you pull the helmet on), I've tried bibs (they're thick but not windproof), I've tried thick balaclavas (they're too thick under the helmet).
With the Revit, the windproof bib down the front seals off that area that gets cold, the thin material fits well under the helmet and the whole thing is very comfortable. A bonus is that it doesn't get out of shape or lose when you pull it below your chin.
Oh, I also have a long scarf that I wind around my kneck when it's really cold, That's to stop cold air coming up into the helmet from underneath - toasty warm :).

If I can't wear fingerless gloves? - it's too cold.

If ya smoke tobacco......STOP, give up rightaway, its proven that smokers feel the cold worse than non smokers.
If you are underweight, put on a few kilos, dont be afraid, increase your mass and you will stay warmer.
Always wear merino wool socks and good boots on ya feet, keeping feet and hands warm is paramount.
If ya dont wanna make these sacrifices, get a cage with a HEATER!:done:

Would be interested in reading the blog, and what the proof is.
Im not doubting you, Just interested in info
And I agree a few extra Kilos body weight in winter is good, but I have never carried extra weight , so that counts me out lol

Yep couldn't agree more, for those of you in Canterbury there is a guy in Kiapoi runs a place called Inview that has really good Merino Base Layers. Its really PushBike gear but works a treat under the jacket! :2thumbsup:

For winter I wear a thermatech neoprene vest under my jacket.
It zips all the way to cover my neck and being neoprene covered with polar fleece it blocks any wind coming through.
Most of time I just have a T-shirt and a light weight jumper on underneath it.
I found that the vest worked way better than the lining that came with my jackey.
On my feet a pair of Possum fur socks kept my toes warm and some nice thick winter gloves kept my hands warm.
So far it's not what I'd call cold in Auckland. The other day I started out wearing my winter gloves and ended up stopping and grabbing my summer ones out of my bag as my hands were too hot.

I just wear a cotton t-shirt with my Nordic. Polyprop and wool go over that below 10 degrees. That is my leather cut off temp too.
For my head I have a Damart double skin polyprop balaclava. It is so thin but man is it warm.

I really can't cope with the cold...doesn't take me long to start behaving as though I have hypothermia.
I wear silk liners under my gloves, long sleeve thermal singlet, longjohns, an "Icebreaker" polo neck top, a woolen jersey (sometimes 2), thermal sox, and a neck warmer tube thingy.
My leathers won't fit if I try and put on more than that, so I don't ride at night...

The front is the colderest part I wear a mixer of things polly, merino, on top and polly under my jeans wool socks my hands are warm have done this for two nights now and an finding it a lot warmer.

Tell Meanie anniversary pressy, check out some of the clothing skiers wear under their gortex tops and pants too.Brother is into snowboarding,so swears by merino/possum mix,not cheap but warm and light.Polyprop is ok,even if poly t shirt then woolen jersey, not as bulky.
But for the real hardcore warmth then poly shirt, double wool (original type)swandri(not the one with brushcotton liner but wool).Works up the mountain in rain with parka overtop, change parka for dri rider or similar jacket.Tends to make ya look like the michelin man though.
If the weather is as chilly down your way as up here, stuff riding at night if feeling cold.Haven't seen the mountain since about Wednesday till today, snow on it so winter is about to land soon.

The key is the gortex shell. It keeps the wind out. Wind is the worst thing for making you cold. You can be soaking wet but as along as your out of the wind you can keep warm.
