Repost.

Shit happens so fast in the air you can't control it, it probabaly was a gust of wind or something similar.

if you have ridden dirt bikes a little bit you'd know what i mean.

skiddy doesn't have time to be searching for reposts - he's flat out looking for a job.

maybe he saved it cause he's a good rider? i'm sure he didn't intend to turn the wheel in the air - he was on a different line than the other 2, and looks like he got an unfavourable re-bound off the previous bump.

fucking ballsy to wind the noise on hard again after that's just happened - looks like they are doing 180-200k just there.

He had it under control after first bump prior to being in air, i did watch it like 20 times.

Just trying to work out what makes the rider as the op posted "an idiot".

Can someone explain to me, how someone going that speed and has that happen to them is "an idiot"..

Farkin awesome skills, and a decent amount of luck I reckon.

Mate,
He Aint a Idiot and turned wheel in the air if you look he actually gets a twitch in the front before getting air born and after those races considering that a lap is like Half an hour and they do 6 of them these guys are fucken legends, Hes probly exhausted and slightly relaxed and thats probly what caused it he would be an idiot tho if he said he was gonna lay some monos and stoppies in thecity while people are around.

So what's bike number 22's excuse then cause his front wheel also wobbles like crazy when going over the undulations in the road...?

Is he an idiot as well, or do ya reckon the surface of the road has something to do with it..?

The rear moves around not the front, he just kept the front where he was going, what isn't such a bad thing.

Looks like he hit the bump at a bad angle, happens ALOT when you first start out on dirt bikes until you can start predicting where abouts to hit the bump etc...

A bit different at 180-200kph.

Ride a dirt bike for a decent amount of time over some bumps/jumps and your know what i mean.

I just reckon, whether or not it was the rider's fault, that it's pretty impressive he saved it.

I think the reason he saved it was he kept the throttle open and just plain rode out of it.
He looked quite relaxed and to me, dismissed it as soon as it was over, more interested in the crn they were about to turn

Good riding as he lost little ground on the front two bikes, if anything he was gaining!

That dude is a legend in my book, reckon he was charging a bit harder than the others, fully bottoming out the suspension just before the next bump causing the rebound in the rear to kick the arse out as he gets air.
He kept the front pointing where he wanted to go and let the rear catch up!
Awesome save!!:woohoo:

But of course Squid Mark would of never got into that situation in the first place himself.........

Good clip but shit post about the clip.

His front wheel was off the ground and it came down hard just as he hit the lip of the next roll in the road and the rebound just launched him so fast not a soul on this earth could react to it. Was all just reflexes and instinct. Easy to freeze frame it and critique every frame but get real dickhead.

Some mod said keep it on topic and not to shoot the messenger. But come on - with comments like these.

I concur. I was just thinkin, there was no way he could have avoided that tank slapper with the rebounding kicking him up, unless he slowed right down for that section.

Regardless of what skid says, the guy is still a great rider (the dude in the clip, not skidmark, i thought i should clarify that)

I M H O
the sparks are definatly from his toe plate.
too far away from the bike to be the rim, plus there is no tyre smoke or marking of the road which would happen if the rim /tyre were that far distorted to produce sparks, and I feel that if it wass, there would have been no recovery.
How many bikes in this race would use steel rims anyway?
Alloy wheels would be the standard?
Racers please correct me if Im wrong

in slow mo his front wheel is off the ground well before as he come domn the hill, Then hit a lot harder than the others get air borne back steps out. As other have said try trail bike this happen all the time back steps out front stays on same heading rear flicks from side to side. Guess the big difference here is kinda like 100kph slow little less trickier to keep under control off road. Have to take yah hat off to him for keepin that on track.

Wow, nice track - although there are a lot of places where you really really don't want to come off!

I believe the tankslapper in the first video took place around the part of the track at 1:45. The camera moves around a "little" bit as well on that bit

Fuck how lucky was the flag marshall. The only thing that saved him getting cleaned up was the gutter deflecting the bike.

Yup.

After watching this a few times, I made the following observations:
1) at 7secs the marshall is already running toward the accident...and keeps running to aid the downed rider with a complete disregard for his own safety. That's an incredibly brave thing to do IMO.
2) at 10secs, there's a photographer who (shockingly) is prepared to take pics of someone who is potentially fatally injured (he wasn't -it's Paul Orritt, who recovered with 'just' a few broken bones).
3) at 35secs you get an idea of how fast they hit the bottom of Bray Hill (DJ reckoned that he could do about 170mph there...)
4) at 44secs Orritt glances off the wall after he came off. If he had come off just a little further up the road (like 5m) he would have entered a driveway, which has no 'glancing' effect and the stop would have been rather sudden.
5) at 56secs, the marshall is simultaneously a) attending Orritt b) kicking debris off the race line and c) waving down the next rider. Bloody hero.
6) at 1min, a rider passes through, then tanks it back up to racing speed...that's racing I guess: get on with the job with the assurance that the man down is being attended to.
7) at 1min 3secs, the marshall looks back at that rider as if to say 'slow the feck down'...not sure?
8) at 1min 20secs we hear Geoff Cannell, who along with Peter Kneale were the voices of the TT when I was a lad. (Both have since passed on).

Bottom Line: that marshall deserves a bloody big DB.:not: (Not to mention a medal) It's a big ask to be first on the scene to that sort of accident, not knowing what the rider's condition is, and keep calm and direct the next riders safely through the debris, and and and..

TT marshalls have been much maligned of late (possibly with good reason in certain situations), but this demonstrates what the majority are like. Keep up the good work fellas:niceone::headbang:

Shoot, I've taken this right off topic - sorry. Back to the original tankslapper. D'oh.
