Based on a recent overnight trip, the road from Napier to New Plymouth via Taupo and Benneydale is in pretty good repair. I would recommend that when riding in measurable proximity to police officers, careful note is taken of the prevailing speed limit and your velocity restricted to an acceptable amount.

Ride safe and have a great trip!

Is that velocity relative to ground speed or the prevailing wind conditions at the time?

Love to have some company. I don't try to wear my tyres out on each trip but I do like them to get hot. Have driven that road in a car & thought got to do it on 2 wheels, so have made the decision. You are welcome to join me just contact direct or reply here :cool2:

Thanks for clarifying that technical point. I mean these things are so open to interpretation that one could be easily confused and innocently and quite inadvertantly do the wrong thing at a particular moment when the wrong thing just happened to be the wrong thing to do.

Indeed. I'm pleased that I could have been of assistance.
