I used to sneak under the fence at Kogarah Oval and watch the last of the 11 in a row championship teams of St George when I was a nipper. Clay, Provan, Gasnier.
Followed them all my life.
I just had to turn the game off and am going to do some work because they are so hard to watch. Buffaloes stuck in the mud of mediocrity.
Is there a protocol for changing the team you support?
How much suffering before you can give up on them - any guidelines?
Are there rules??
Carlton beat Collingwood last week so they get a reprieve.

Pick a player who's gone to a better team - then say you're a fan and supporter of that player - hey presto, you've changed teams

Go the Titans. Beat the Broncos last night.
I see King Wally and Mal Maninga made it into the best team of the century this week.
They were some of the Great Old Players.

I'm a Sea Eagles fan. Don't follow the game that much. I had one of their caps but the wind blew it away and I lost it. A few weeks later I was surfin' the channels and came across one of their games. They were getting hammered don't recall the team. Sorta felt sorry for them so been a fan ever since.
Decent sorta hat too.

Fitzsimons today"
Arsenal. One of TFF's friends has just returned from Britain, where he saw them play, and reports there was not a single British player in the side. Instead, the team was made up of three Frenchmen and one each from Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Holland, Belarus, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Togo. Big-time professional sport. What's it all about, Alfie?
Queensland Reds coach Phil Mooney on New Zealander Robbie Deans getting the Wallabies coaching job: "Twenty thousand of them migrate here a year, each year. You would hope at least one of them would hold down a job."

The only thing English about the English Legue are the clubs and some of them are owned for foregners.

Not any more, bud - they are businesses with a product - only the fans are left.

Sigh. Otago rugby supporter here ... although I'm sick of rugby and hardly ever watch now. I actually prefer watching the Warriors over any game of rugby.

Haha, what a brilliant line: buffaloes stuck in the mud of medeiocrity....luv it.
I think the protocol is a an official wake and scarf burning.....you know, "the king is dead, long live the king" as you pledge a new allegiance. Sailing the burning scarf out to sea on an old Kontiki fishing rig would be a nice touch.
You think you've got it bad, I work with mostly West Australians and we have to make a point of keeping the Dockers fans away from all sharp objects most weekends as they find new and improved ways of losing.
Carlton looked bloody good last week, hard to believe they've had such a bad losing trot, even allowing for some good recruiting. I watched Collingwood get pipped in the last few minutes last night by North Melbourne. Enthralling game, with North doing just enough to stay in touch then somehow falling over the line in front.

They were faced with the problem of staying British and staying shit or getting better by looking overseas for players and investment. The general population of Britain don't give a shit about participating in sport they just want to be spectators. I balme the nationwide teachers' strikes of the eighties where we lost all the momentum when there was no extra curricular sports or activities in schools for some time.

Jack Bloody Elliot. Spouted off about Essendon cheating and got caught doing the same thing worse. Dick. Cost us a million dollars and four years draft picks - first two wooden spoons.
I like the ceremony ideas! - but I know I can't change - the answer is to have a 'second team'. Sometimes it can take three sports to find a winner - but it's a grim day without at least something in the fourth division.

As far as 2008 goes - than goodness for the Celtics
