Of course you would just be doing it up and admiring it (off the road) until you get your license back eh.

Well it is reg on hold.

Bits are not too bad say he bought my ones...it would owe him 1500 by the time he got wof and rego.

plus another 400 for lower front fairings i guess

another say 800 for paint and graphics....

$2700 for a bike that wouldve cost 4k with new paint otherwise....

totally agree, with the price 250s are at the moment it would be worth doing up.

Dont see how a ratty 20 year old 250 thats been down the road, is full of corrosion, and missing a heap of parts could be considered a bargin! I'd be paying someone to take it away. Hopefully lifting the 250 limit for learners will kill the market for rubbish like this.

You take that back, and um its fully alloy apart from the tank, and guage cluster hanger...(10 minutes of actual labour to strip it down paint it then put it back together once dry) so the corrosion is where?

Ive owned 3 zxr's, as with any bike when tidying it up, it's the little details that make it look good, ie nice bolts, painted little brackets etc.

Was wondering how long it'd take you to bite! 2 minutes is pretty good!!

If you want to buy it and you have the parts and the know-how then power to ya. Not my cuppa tea though. I think old 250's like this are waaaaaaay overpriced and can only imagine what horrors might lurk under the surface of an old unkempt ZXR (or any similar model) such as this. Smells like a money trap to me.

If i wqas fully keen on buying and had the money i would have viewed.

Take the risk with any used bike really, a mate bought a gixxer with a yoshi can and i think a power commander, nothing major, until we managed to dig up history way back and found out it was an ex racebike in japan.

This on a late model gsxr import.

Gotta watch what ya buy.

Did he have issues with it? Ive owned 2 ex race bikes and never had trouble with em on the road. Ex racers generally have more frequent fluid changes, and tuning. I guess if the bike has had a major accident and rebuilt it may have some handling\reliability problems.
As for the zxr bargin, old bike, lotta kms, maybe $2700 to get back on the road. My opinion in road trim again, its still only worth maybe $2000. :(

will be interesting to see how much the market changes on these 250s when the new rules come in.
