Due to the extremely high amount of motorcycle thefts recently, it got me thinking about security. But not just that, an idea came to me...

A device on the bike capable of disabling the bike and a base station at your house that when your bike leaves the 'zone' created by the base station it then disables the bike.

There is a similar thing used for dog control - dog collar and a wire perimiter fence that when your dog goes outside of the wire fence it gets a small shock.

Would anyone on here have any info on this idea?

We could actually create a product and even market it and sell it!

Although it wouldn't stop it from being loaded into a van/ute/truck.

A GPS unit that reports its position over the internet would be my weapon of choice - you can get them for around $400

it is possible and not very hard to do, with a car anyway. i looked into it a while ago when i was in the gps game.
the problem is you would never be allowed to market / sell it.

you can not install a device into a vehicle that can remotely disable it. imagine someone (even filthy thieving scum) full throttle heading for a corner and you remotely cut the power to the bike ... next thing you know your up on manslaughter charges.

good idea though

I like the idea but as I only have off road bike these day a gps tracker thats cheap easy to hide (ie: could be placed in air box when bikes not being used) and is motion activated as there is on battery on bike. So it would have to have its own rechargeable battery thats lasts a good couple a week as bikes arent used every week.
