DR 750 dodgy electrics

Went for a ride today:2thumbsup, notoiced head light had gone out and indicators wern't working all of a sudden, no neutral light either, turned bike off to do what I had to do and it wouldn't start again:argh:, no lights,dash lights, nothing.
Managed to get it going by bridging accross the solenoid and it runs just fine, still no lights though. Noticed coming home the rev counter worked untill I touched the brakes or put the indicators on or tryed the head light then took a couple of seconds to come right when all other electrics were turned off.
To make matters worse everything worked when I got back in the driveway, all lghts,indicators,nuetral light, everything, even started on the starter:clap:
Any ideas as to whats going on would be welcomed

Sounds about typical of '80s Suzuki electrics...
I'd be looking for shorts in the wiring loom, typically around the steering head where the loom gets flexed, or perhaps somethings been rubbing under the tank or seat.

Cheers Pete, I thought that might be the case,been rididng the bike today and no problems have come up, might take it to a expert as I could be mucking around for ages trying to sort it.

had a very weird intermitteant electrical problem once....
In the end it turned out to be a faulty soldered connection in the ground wire "tree".....under the tank of course...
It still made some sort of connection.....but not under all conditions..(i.e full steering lock)

Ah, a friend of mine used to have this problem on his Kwak 750. Yours will probably show up sooner seeing as the 750 donk probably has vibrations to balls. There will be a loose connection somewhere, and with vibration, it will either short out against something or loose connection all together. Stops vibrating, thingie stops moving, regains connection and away you go, baffled to fuck.

Check the loom.

All I did was route the wires where they were supposed to be, ie. UNDER the frame instead of between the tank and frame and then around the battry using the groove in the airbox, I guess provided for that purpose, instead of across the top of the battry, maybe I moved something that should'nt have been moved.
