Speedo mmmmm put a bike digital one, well speedo you could spend money rather have one thats gonna tell speed at least well,
Headlight, streetfighter it, or something thats hell expensive for headlight and waste of time unless you are replaceing/fixing fairing that goes along with it

Have a good look around the net, I know someone that did up a written off Triumph and sourced heaps of parts from the states at prices that were very reasonable compared to local prices.

Ebay could be your friend for some of those things. Or maybe a british wreakers (even one actually in Britian). Or maybe aftermarket/generic parts.

Either way, I'm sure there's ways around things without having to resort to borrowing KKs westytape.

Oh crap and I just bought into the Triumph ownership thingy ! I' got my first wake up call when I asked about replacing the vanishing hero blobs ---$80 bucks for two wee screws made from cheese. Stuff that I'm just going to wear right through the pegs as well.
Kerryg try the Aussie bike wreckers. I think the name was Victoria cycle wreckers or similar that I used in January. I got a full engine replacement for the 929 Blade for A$2800 in mint condition and they were really helpful.

yeh have had a long history with a 955i, parts cost throught the roof, and dissabppear in the fucken mail.
Even those shitty little fairing clips cost a fortune.
DONT SPRAY WATER IN THE AIR INTAKE EITHER!!!!!!!, We washed down the bike once, and hello, it didnt start. :shutup: :shit:
Also fuel injuection goes haywire when the battery is jump started. Get the hugger extensions for the guards so u dont wreck the radiator or the shock.
Cant remember the rest of the bullshit that we had, but there probably is more.
Fucken excellent bikes though, like riding a cruise missile. And the motor makes the most lovely noises, best sound ever.

Indicators: time for some classy aftermarket ones. Mine on the FahrtSturm were $165 each, but Buell ones were about $18 (IIRC). In the end, the indicator that I thought was munted just pushed back together, more or less.
But the big saving is labour. :niceone:

As above. Search the net and start asking questions when you call people from the parts shops and bike dismantlers. I ended up with bits coming from all over NZ and Oz to put the Gixxer back on the road. Try an add on TradeMe. It got me in touch with Kiwis with bits that were happy to sell at good prices, bits they had in their sheds. These contacts led to others till the Job was done. Keep asking everyone you can and look at after market. Engineering shops exhaust shops can do a lot of work at a good hourly price. Good luck. It will not happen over night but it will happen. I also understand bits for a Gixxer are easier to find but there will be bits out there.

Definitely sounds as if wreckers and Ebay could be your best friends here. Like the above kiwirider I have just bought stuff from Vict. M/c wreckers and waiting for them to arrive. So far though their service is pretty good.

I found out yesterday of a guy in (I think) Hawkes Bay who deals Guzzi parts at very reasonable prices. Apparently took over from a guy doing exactly the same in Dunedin. The lady telling me of this guy said is miles better than the big dealers
Unfortunately I cannot remember who he is (seeing as I not a Guzzi rider) but could find out in due course if you would like me to.

Finally tracked the FZR projector type headlamp I want today, from they who always seem to come through. I must be an idiot for not trying them earlier, but the truth is I needed to do heaps of research before I proved that it's the same unit le Voxan uses. And they say only $150 plus $20 for freight, that plus the conversion at about another $17 makes it a good buy with a 1 week delay that beats the froggies by heaps.
