$35 bucks seems to be the norm at the moment, the monster is $35 as well. everything is going up in price at the moment............

the monster trail bike ride has been $35 for a while, the most pricey ride apart from desert storm that i have been on.
I won't be able to make it to the jolly poacher as ill be up north at the above ride. But have fun all.

Bit of everything really. You can ride the red tracks which I'd describe as non quad friendly (slow and tighter and there is a good hill climb area of a couple of hundred metres). The yellow are more wide open and fast. They inter connect at quite a few places so you can chop and change if need be.

Thanks Buddy, same to you guys. Hopefully next year the two rides don't clash. We really are spoilt for rides in this country.

At least I'm not the only one being kept from riding.

Will be back out for the trails once my knee has got a bit of strength in it.

Add in you plus a couple of kids (14 and 18), fuel to get there etc etc and you can kiss good by to $175-$200 bucks for a days family riding, plus any damages and wear & tear. So the diff between $35-00 each and $25 each sometimes makes the difference between going and not!

I'll be there for sure. First Woodhill trailride of the season and a chance to ride a part of the forest that does not get used for any other events.

Didn't know about the family pass for this event, thanks for that! Its not on the silver bullet site or your site where the prices are?
The family rate at the sandpit is good, actually means we go out there more and you get more money spent by us over the season. Especially now the tracks and set up are great!!!

1/2 the family away this weekend so it all works out, I hope.
18 year old kid?? I know, he's not a kid, good lad, but just started Varsity, doesn't waist the money he earns at his part time job, so I still pay for him on MX rides. Father son time, MX or karting one of the few sports they still putin front of their other activities at that age. All good though, have to share a bike this weekend, only got the KTM and the KX85 at the moment.
All good l might see you guys out there!!

Just got in from another day of putting up the freakin arrows. This is our first trail ride and for those that don't know the amount of effort that goes into organising a ride, well its mind boggoling(freakin good Inglish).I now know what other organisations have to go thru.

Here's a starter.
There is one local lady whom has no idea what we are doing and just see's riders as hoons. She has had the following groups on our case in the last 3 weeks trying to shut this ride down.
- Rodney Council, with the mayor Penny Webster involved
- Deer hunters Assn
- Heritage Sociaty, cultural sites
- ARC, this bitch actually had 4 members come out to her Wilson rd house for a meeting to discuss this horrendous occasion. (Wish somebody would fix the drain out side my house.)
- Police, somebody put a dead rat in her letterbox, hello, she ain't even got a fuckin letterbox!! ( I want to put my calling card in it tho).
- labour dept, today of all fuckin days, do we have paid staff, are were providing food and do we have food permits, are we charging for spectators etc etc etc... They got the get a fuckin life back!!
- This is even better. On my way back at 6.30 tonite they had people putting up a vehicle counter at the beginning of Wilson rd to count cars over the long week end. What are the chances of that staying there past tomorrow do you reckon?

Our farm and forestry owners deserve a big pat on the back for supporting us as they have been 100% behind this ride.

Anyway, I prolly know most of you but please come and intro yourselves.
raining or not it will be a good day.

I'm off to Poach me some meat... see you there.:2guns:

Yeah we have gone out of our way. To the extent that we borrowed GO SLOW signs to put up Wilson Rd to help.
I even phoned her politely and Non Agressively. She was asking Q like " What is the amount of fuel that will be on site and do you have resource consent for everyone to have this amount". Fuckin over her.

Yep, she's gona have a few deposits on the front gate in the next couple of weeks. Jeez, I feel like a good strong curry now.....

Whats her lawn like? Why don't you sneek up there one night and chuck a load of grass seed around. She'll have a nice lawn that grows like fuck and needs mowing all the time. Nice subtle way of pissing her off and seems like she has to much time on her hands anyway.

Did this to a prick that pissed me off, he was out there mowing his lawn all the time in the summer! I even used to honk the horn and wave at him as I passed.

Thats Helens PC, resource consent orientated, greeny system.
1 silly bitch can waste all those man hours ( I counted 6 organisations she got involved) and no one has the guts to tell her to "get a life" for just, 1 day, 1 day, outa her miserable anti everything existence!!! So we can take our kids out and have some family time!!!

Talk about the tail wagging the dog???

Wow, nice work sandpit crew.

Sounds like one person can unfortunately make a pain in ass of herself. I've been looking forward to this ride for a while now, but waiting on my knee to sort itself out.

Good luck everyone!

Rat in letterbox?! Nice! :innocent:

I lived in Ireland for a couple of years and you can't do anything there without insurance, It took me 6 months to get insurance on a 30 year old Kombi...1000 euros!!! The Cork skating rink had to close because the insurance costs made it uneconomic to run.
You had to pay an insurance fee for school trips, no insurance for modified vehicles, compulsory insurance ...etc.
I'm amazed she got so much attention, must be the 'squeaky wheel gets looked at" story.
I do like the idea mentioned of a bunch of flowers.
Do any of the proceeds go to a school or a charity of some sort? might sort of make her look a bit petty.
Thanks for doing the run, they are great to take the kids to.

Came very close a month back when recing the trails for the Jolly Poacher with KTMboy. We sat on the road for about 10mins and watched about 50 deer further up the road crossing over and heading towards the fire trail we were going down next.
Down the fast fire trail, KTMboy reckons he was doing about 114km next to another rider. I was hanging back avoiding his dust and was probably doing about 80-90km. Next thing two deer leap out in front of me and at the last second decided to leap back the way they came, luckilly because otherwise I would have T boned them. Missed by about a half metre. Slowed down after that. There are heaps and heaps of deer on the Jolly Poacher circuit and I would be careful on the fast sections.

Yeah, the deer are hard case the way they jump out at the last minute. I get a real kick out of seeing them.

RE: motorsickle haters. They are out there alright. I got instantly hot under the collar reading posts. What a nasty bridge troll! We have to keep cool and avoid giving this sad creature ammo to fire back at us. She's obviously motivated. I quite like Cheese's attitude. Be nice, it takes wind out of their sails and makes it very likely she'll (eventually) be ignored - the very thing that would piss her off more than anything! Lets just have another top day in our pretty good country, the last thing we want is more people like her on our case. And the walls have ears, and eyes...Keep cool men. TV would love a follow up story (beach incident) on terrible motorcyclists (BTW, anyone got any spare rats?)

Cheers for all the work KTM boy. And nice effort in placating the witch. I'll be there.

Right,

KTMBOY :apint::apint::apint::apint::apint::apint::apint:
you deserve a beer!

that was.... by far..... the best ride i have ever done!
thank you for putting that on, that was the shit.

shits on desert storm by a mile, meaning all the years of desert storm.

we rode solid for 5 hours. i am completely buggered.

also. thankyou for not removing all the logs! finally a trail ride that has some bits to make you think. the red arrows on your nothern loop were amazing. our whole group is completely stoked! (a couple more hills next time maybe????)

PLEASE put some more rides on there. we would come at least once a month if we could get access to those northern trails.

also, whoever owns that farm. it would be a choice place to hold a series of scrambles. ( i am very jealous of your location and mini MX track. ) would really like to ride there as well:whistle:)

i would have come and told you myself, and bought you a beer if i knew who you were in the crowd. :2thumbsup:2thumbsup

Wow that was a cool ride! We arrived at 8, were within the first 5 cars to get there (red ford courier, yz250f and kxf250) and within 10 minutes were off riding!
Had a dude give us a quick escort of the red loop (which was a mad trail) then we were free to get as lost as we wanted :2thumbsup:
Woo! Cheers!

What a huge day. Rode til body contorted with cramp and had to shortcut/limp home. Spoilt for amount of ground to cover. We kept turning off just before the big hillclimb but found it last loop. Unfortunately crew was too knackered to give it all a proper go. First time in a years riding struck something I couldn't get up. I like it!

Could get up left parts of face easy enough but kept running out of momentum 3/4 way up the middle parts. Poor KLX. Didn't even attempt right hand side. Really enjoyed the nice jumpy bits in one particular section and and Jimmy is right - good plan to leave a few logs in. Good to ride on some terrain that had plenty of shape to it.

A Huge Thanks to the Sandpit Boys. You could see that a hell of a lot of work had gone into the tracks. Outstanding effort. Any chance of riding there again? Hope there was no flak from Govt departments of freedom crushing. Any update on the anti motorcycle activist and her rat collection?

Thanks for the input all. It was a bloody good day and luckily we had lots of volunteer help. This wouldn't have been possible without them, Leightons farm and Forestry Management. Big ups:2thumbsup

But wait for next year.

We are going to push for a two day ride. The concept would be something like...

Day one (Saturday) - Farm loop and 2/3rds of the last Sundays ride with a focus more on the family rider.

Day two - Being a Sunday this would focus on the far Northern area(we didn't go there this time). We have scouted out some pearler tracks that haven't been touched for 5 years or more with alot more variation in terrain(hills and gullies).
In discussion with a local land owner that would possibly allow us parking and camping on the saturday night after the Southern ride. He has a big old barn that we may be able to use as a base with line dancing for Chop, Cheeze and Danger. :grouphug:(Fess up you guys)

Thoughts are that it could get very messy the night before, YES.

Well, we are going to plan for this now so standby.

Surprise surprise she is only about 30 yrs old. She was outside the gate taking pics but scrapered when the land owners saw her.
She lives about 3km down the road and vehicles don't even go past her house.
