If you want to try keep resale value then choose as close to an original ZZR colour as possible and get yourself a set of decals. immediate thought when someone sees a resprayed bike in an aftermarket colour or with no decals is "its been binned, and bad enough that it had to be patched up and resprayed"

So you want to change the colour of your bike just because your uncle doesn't like it??
Who cares what your uncle thinks, so long as you like it...free paint job or not.

two tone. black and white or black and green. that would look mean.
eg, both side fairings white and top/rear black or sides black and top/rear green

I said Blue - meaning that irridescent blue that the late ZZR1200s came out in. Either that or a nice gloss black. ZZRs look pretty good in the standard black - just resist the temptation to do the factory red-on-black thing, it looks really dated.
Or you could go badass and paint it in camo...

98% of all Harleys ever made are still on the road. The other 2% have made it home !!!!

I'd go for red over black. Black looks good in photos and at night and shit in the daylight.
Black and dark blue show up light polish scratches badly.
Deep Ferrari red would be pretty porno.
or this colour...
