Gday, (again, dont know if this is the right place but...)

Anyone know a cheap alarm system which i can fit to "my" (getting 2mrw) Suzuki FXR150? Dont wanna spend too much (pref under 150$) and i could/would install myself. I haven't done anything to do with wires b4, but im reasonably intelligent (How hard can it be? :devil2:). I was looking at some on trademe but dont know if they will fit or go in a suitable location, etc etc.

Any thoughts on these or anything? Cheers, El Lanzo.

None of them. They The last one says

"ALL WIRING INSTALLATION DIAGRAMS ARE AT AN EXTRA COST OF $15.00. "

The one in the middle is overpriced. I've got a 'steel mate' you can have for $70.

The first one is a 'talking' alarm - how gay will you look when you hop off your bike and it says "Alarm Armed"?

Maybe, but for a FXR... it's not worth it. Your insurance will be <$300 for a year. Mine was. For my RG150.

Its the brand of alarm he has that he can sell you, for a good price.

for an FXR i would not see the point of gettin an alarm and i doubt it would change the cost of your insurance as its a learners bike so it will eventually get binned at some stage, use the money on good gear that would be more benifical to you.

we all know that if they wanna steal it they will regardless of an alarm

I had that cyclone talking alarm on one of my bikes... drove me nuts after only a few hours. Ended up cutting the speaker wires.

Take breakaway up on his offer.

The second auction you have listed IS a Steel Mate - Kneescraper can do them for $70 - from memory breakaway got his from him, so he's passing it on at cost.

I had one in my ZZR, worked a charm.

(Some muppet claims I had the name of the supplier wrong - BULL I SAY!)

Bastard... lol

Im more worried about going out to partys and some little thugs playign around with it, just want something to tell them to **** off :niceone: (the not stealign thing is a bonus, and the remote engine start thingy on some of them is a super bonus!)

This is an easy one: buy a Xena disklock/alarm, and then you can still use it if/when you move up to another bike. :niceone:

If you do go down this path, make sure you get one with an attachment which goes around one of your clip ons. Just to remind you not to write off with a lock on. Or else you will definitely destroy your caliper D:

or you can use the loud BEEP-BEEP's it emits when you undo the steering lock as a reminder.

Are you aware that the Zena lets a siren rip if the bike is moved?

So it's an alarm as well as disc lock. And it reminds twat owners (Like me) when they attempt to ride off with the disc locked! :nono: :nono:

I personally wouldn't bother with an alarm. Maybe a disabler, definitely a disc lock and insurance. Fact is, if f@^^kers want your bike, they'll just chuck it in a ute or van. Last year we had a whole bunch of bikes stolen from uni and the guys would either ram a screwdriver in the ignition or lift them away (in broad daylight).

personally i'd never bother, as i always park in secure locations, and if i cant, i try to keep an eye always on the bike.

but fxr's and small bikes are easier to steal than heavier ones, so an alarm would not be wasted money.

I reckon let the chap do it if he wants to and I think $70 is a good price.

My for 929 I carry a disc lock on the front and a 2 inch thick cable lock on the rear and I usualy secure it to something solid/stationary.
