Is anyone riding tomorrow ?

Weather forecast is good, but it turns to shite Sat and Sun.

I am planning on getting out there - not sure of destination yet, but feel the need for something a little different.

Say, top of Takas, then back over Aka's, then Piecock.

Has anyone not done the Aka's yet ? It's a challenge...:baby:

Probably leave mid morning but open to suggestions.

Done it in a car. Bloody awful road. Not keen on the bike :crybaby:

I was thinking of a quick blast to Wangavegas to see the old man sometime in the weekend if the weather doesn't turn to shit.

Crikey I suppose you've joined the Whitby Residents Association too?

I'll be prepping my WR for the Capital Coast and trying to shake a bloody lurg that feels to be coming on. Where's the brandy bottle?

Did the Akatarawa road the end of last year, it is sealed all the way but shit it is tight in places, especially when you are trying to dodge all the damned cyclists.

Geez I'd love to Deano, but Anzac Dawn Parade tomorrow morning and taking the young feller (Tim - 8) on the Ambulance Ride doesn't leave any space in my calendar.

Have fun on your ride. :devil2:

.......................

I did it just after New Year... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/blogs/viewblog.php?userid=9500&entry=353 refers. I wouldn't recommend it as it's too tight and narrow and I was always worried about meeting an oncoming 4WD taking the whole road.

Crazy part is, the dickhead who compiled the Kiwi Motor Cycle atlas (supposedly the best 100 rides in the country) included the Akatarawa Road. He obviously just looked at a map and never rode it.
