Currently, I'm only getting 270 km to a tank which costs about $23 to fill (I get to 270 km of (reasonably sedate) riding before the fuel light starts flashing).

Does this sound about right? We just recently balanced the carbs and the bike runs like a dream. No problems at all, even starts first time even at 4am. Or is it time to get it 'tuned'? Was considering putting a dynojet kit into it.

A mate (2002 SV650, 70,000km, dynojet kit, full micron exhaust) claims he gets about 350 km :shit: per tank. Mine has done 40,000 KM, and has a full Two Bros exhaust). Everything else (except the screen - givi jobbie) is stock.

I want my v-twin fuel economy dammit :angry2:

From NetRider:
"Stock FI SV650's can be pretty good, 300+ from 13L (ie before the light comes on). But as soon as you put an exhaust on its such a waste to keep it quiet."

Mine is carbed, not FI, and also has pipes+can, so I guess 270-280 is normal then. Carrying on!

I wouldn't be complaining... my 'sensible' car does 100km to $20 gas at the moment if i take it easy.

Best i got from my R6 taking it easy for the WHOLE time on a full tank I managed to get 270km before reserve ONCE, usually would get 250km pushing it on reserve otherwise... so what you're getting would sound right.

Remember that a full exhaust system allows more airflow out, which ultimately means more fuel + air IN, tuning it to that exhaust will most likely only cause it to consume more gas, especially if you add a free-er flowing air filter in their too.

when I brought SweetP's 2002 sv back from Napier it got to the top of the Rimutakas before the light came on. 320+??kms. 2 brothers exhaust...and it was a delivery ride so had to see how she went downhighway 50, so wasnt doing an economy run...if you get my drift!!!
